Co budeš dělat
The Woolly Egg Ranch is a historic family farm located just a few miles north of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge on your way to Muir Woods. During your visit, we’ll put on beekeeping gear, open hives and learn about beekeeping basics.
We’ll start the visit with a short farm orientation and learn the basics of beekeeping safety and etiquette before each visitor puts on protective gear. Then Jennifer will open hives, pull out frames of comb and show you what the bees are doing based on each season. For those feeling brave, you can even hold a frame of comb in your hands while you watch the bees busy at work. Jennifer will share bee stories, tell you how these amazing animals live and work, and if we’re lucky you’ll even spot the queen among all those worker bees.
Ordinarily we'd finish the experience by sampling honey from different seasons and locations around the Bay Area, but even in COVID times we will have honey, fresh eggs, and seasonal preserves for you to buy to take home with you. Once you've booked your experience you'll receive an email with instructions on how to prepare for a visit with bees and how to be sure you can be COVID-safe during your visit to the Woolly Egg Ranch.
Other things to note
Perhaps your curiosity of bees is tinged by a fear of getting stung. You’re not alone! Jennifer is an expert in leading people on beekeeping adventures, and she puts your comfort and safety first. She’ll outfit you with all you need and orient you so you can experience beekeeping minus the stings.

Kde budeš
The Woolly Egg Ranch is a fifth generation farm in a coastal valley, surrounded by forest and national parks on the way to Tennessee Valley Beach. We raise chickens and ducks to provide eggs to local markets in Marin, plus we have a flock of sheep and alpacas Bernadette and Zeta who graze the hills above the farm. The hills and surrounding areas provide special honey varietals from plants found only along the coast of California.

We loved this experience. This was well over our expectations. Jennifer is so informative, friendly and caring. She has a true passion for bee keeping. Jennifer also made sure we were informed and comfortable with being hands on with her bees. We had so much fun and have gained so much from this experience.

This is a very unique experience and opportunity to learn about bees and their behavior. Jennifer is extremely knowledgeable and makes everyone feel very safe around the bees. She is so passionate about bees and beekeeping and gave our group both information and hands-on experience--we all were able to hold racks with live bees and honeycomb straight from the bee box!! I would highly recommend this. Her hives are also on a working egg farm in a beautiful location so that was fun too!

An amazing and entrancing experience just 20 minutes drive from downtown San Francisco! Jennifer was a friendly, comfort conscious, and extremely knowledgeable host who's passion for bee keeping and nature is infectious. Woolly Egg Ranch is a small working farm in Marin just across the Golden Gate Bridge but it felt like a different world! It was fascinating to learn about and interact with the bees, their hives and the local environment. To round it off we sampled seven different honeys from around the world. A wonderful 2 hours - highly recommended!

Jennifer is a friendly host, very knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. With background in biology and experience she answered all our questions on the spot with stories from her personal experience to illustrate her point. Two hours went by like 20 minutes ( followed by honey sampling which was a treat in and of itself ) :)
