One of the first things we will do before the walk begins is to have Hyderabad's famous (and ubiquitous) Biryani, at Grand Hotel, the city's oldest Iranian restaurant. There, guests will also learn the history of Irani chai and cafes in Hyderabad. After that, we will visit the Badshahi Ashurkhana, a Shia-Muslim place of mourning, which is one of the oldest landmarks of Hyderabad, that is more than 400 years old. After that we will walk through the lanes of the Old City, and then visit the Charminar, which is Hyderabad's foundation, and then proceed to visit other places nearby like the Mecca Masjid (mosque) . These places will make you understand the city's core Persian culture and architecture of the Qutb Shahi dynasty (1518-1687), which for. Guests may also get a peak into seeing live how Irani chai is made in cafes; the entire process at a cafe near the Charminar. And for book lovers , the guided tour will also include a visit to one the oldest book store's in Hyderabad, which sells rare books. Those interested in purchasing the books, which include English, Persian, Arabic and Urdu collections, can do so. Please keep in mind, we will also visit religious places, so wearing shorts might hinder access in one of the religious places (carrying a scarf is also adviced for women).
Having been a reporter for over 7 years in my city, I can say with some gumption that I know Hyderabad like no one else. I've been researching on Hyderabad's lesser known history from over 2 years (which is why I started my blog, The Hyderabad History Project), and I can guarantee that you will see a completely different side of Hyderabad as a traveler, especially if you're looking for a well-rounded historical perspective. Hyderabad is mostly known for its old monuments, but a lot of people miss out on things beyond the usual/touristy places. Often, people skip seeing the city's lesser known monuments, which are really important. Through my research, I also know a lot of other cool stuff about the city, which I am sure as a traveler, one would love to learn about.
