Alfredo was my guide for the day! He did a great job explaining what we were looking at during the tour for the entire day! I for sure will consider using his services in the future when I return. He told me what tacos to eat at the Cenote and they hit the spot! The ruins were awesome and I would recommend this adventure to anyone.

This was an extremely unpleasant experience. While we've booked many experiences through Airbnb, one thing they have in common is that they always feel like unique and personal experiences. This one, not so much. While it may seem like someone named Raul will be hosting you, you will actually be picked up by a driver who demands a ticket (that hasn't been provided) and ID (which we haven't been told we needed). We were then driven around Playa del Carmen for 1 hour to pick up other people at hotels, passing our own hotel several times, making us wonder why we had to be picked up at 6am in the first place when the last pick up was at 7am, 200m from our own hotel. We were not told anything during this whole time. Then we were taken to a gas station, where many similar buses were. Again, the driver left us in the bus without telling us anything. After 10 minutes we got fed up and decided to ask what the deal was. Just go inside and get some food/drink, we'll let you know. Turns out, this is just a big tour company running the whole operation, doing pick ups all over the Riviera Maya and Cancun, and then redestributing people on buses to the different destinations they offer. It took us 2.5 hours (!) before we left Playa, of which we spent 1.5 hours at this random gas station, a 10 minute cab drive away from our hotel, without being told anything or any kind of apologies. We were also told to pay 40 USD per person on the spot for 'taxes', although all of it had to be given to a guy we never saw again afterwards. The whole thing was very sketchy, and the people running the thing were rude. Once we finally started off to Chichen Itza, we were with a much bigger group than Airbnb indicated, and none of the people were the ones that were displayed on Airbnb as joining on the experience. In fact, we didn't meet anyone who booked through Airbnb. We never met anyone named Raul. Since we were so incredibly late, we got stuck in traffic and ended up at Chichen Itza very late. This led us to having to rush all day through the attractions, almost sprinting from site to site (thank god there were no elderly or people who otherwise have difficulty walking in our group). Chichen Itza was crowded an hot, but that's what was to be expected, and we enjoyed the sights nevertheless. The cenote dip was very nice, and lunch afterwards (in a very large, touristy restaurant) was fine. Clearly our host makes some money from trying to push souvenirs at the Hubiku Cenote (we verified this) as we were repeatedly told not to buy anything at Chichen Itza, but to buy lots of things at Hubiku. Since we were in a rush we didn't get much time at the different attractions though. At Ek Balam our guide tried to push those with a fear of heights to go up the pyramid, which we thought wasn't very nice. After all this, we were ready to go home, but were then told that we first had to drive to Cancun to drop off some of the people on our bus. This would've implied we would be home at 10pm, spending 2 hours on dropping other people off first on top of the 2 hours back to Playa del Carmen, instead of the time indicated in the reservation. We told him this was unacceptable, particularly given the terrible experience in the morning, and eventually the guide gave in and drove to Playa del Carmen first. This, however, did imply that those guests coming from Cancun must've been back at their hotels very late. All in all, we spent most of the day waiting for other tourists. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience, and far from what you would expect from an Airbnb experience. While the sights themselves are nice, this is just a big tour company that does nothing to make you feel special and takes you to all the places that any random tour company will take you. Much of the information provided was incorrect (and our guide was not very knowledgeable), and nothing was done to rectify this. This experience should not be on Airbnb.

Super interesting! Our guide Jorge C. was well prepared and very passionated ! Good organization in general! Recommended! NB make sure you have 40 $ in USD to pay the Yukatan taxes. If not they are gonna charge you way to much on the rate change percentage ;)

Better to book through their actual company than AirBnb, the host was responsive but not the actual tour guide. Also there is a language barrier that made communication on airbnb a bit difficult. Response was basic and there was no advantage to booking through AirBnb. The tour was nice with great food and plenty of water. Our actual guide was on his cell phone a lot and provided info via an Ipad that was hard to see in the bright sunlight. It’s always a gamble when you book a tour if you get a guide you click with.

Logistics wise, this wasn’t great. This would be good if 1) you don’t have a lot of time as you’ll hit many places in one day for short stints and 2) aren’t comfortable with driving. The guide was nice and knowledgeable, but we only probably spent an average of an hour and 15 each (maybe less) of the 3 sites out the 12+ hour day. Transportation wise, this felt like a commercialized tour disguised as an AirBNB experience. There were way too many people jammed into the mini-bus beyond what felt safe or comfortable. We could barely move in the back and were crammed in like sardines. You had to angle your shoulders just to sit. In the beginning, the tour pickup had to wait for another group to split up across a few tours. Spent a ton of time on the road especially with the many pick up/drop off. By the end, we decided to just get out and take a taxi. By then we had left the last site at 4pm and we frustratingly left the bus at like 9pm (not even at our hotel). You still have a pay $40 pp for your entrance fee and then we had the $10 taxi to avoid anymore time stuck on the bus. I would probably rent a car instead next time or maybe a smaller tour. I prefer the experiences that feel more intimate.
