Co budeš dělat
We will visit together Nowa Huta - a well preserved communist district of Krakow, which was built during the 1950s as the utopian ideal communist city. Nowadays, it is an 'open-air museum' of so-called socialist realist architecture. We will tell you how life under the communist regime looked like from our, then child perspective, what was funny, what was sad what we were dreaming of as children. During our experience, first, we will take a tram to go to the central part of the former model communist city Nowa Huta and we will enter the main museum of the district. We will show you the place where the gigantic monument of Lenin used to be and tell you a lot of funny stories connected with it. Then we will have a shot of vodka with typical snacks from the époque in the restaurant which looks exactly like years ago. Later, we will proceed to see the People's Theater (Teatr Ludowy) and other typical communist buildings on our way to the local farmer's market. Finally, we will see Lord’s Ark church (Arka Pana), made by the citizens by hand as a sign of the resistance against communism. The whole experience will be like traveling back in time.

Hey! It's Monika, Hanka, Joanna, Paweł, and Tomasz! We work as licensed guides of Krakow and we will be more than happy to take you to the famous, communist district of Krakow - Nowa Huta and share our knowledge and funny anecdotes about this place. During the experience, we will see communist architecture and a place where a huge monument of Lenin used to stand. We will have a shot of vodka and a typical snack from our communist childhood, which, by the way, was not so grey and gloomy as you probably imagine.

Exploring this old Soviet styled neighborhood with Tomasz was a great experience that I can’t recommend enough! A great way to see and explore a less touristy part of Krakow with the best guide in the whole world! Listening to his own personal experience of growing up in the area added such a unique touch to the tour. Highly recommend this tour with him! We did his pierogi cooking class with him the day prior and we liked him so much, we did this tour also!

Wonderful tour with Monika. She is so very knowledgeable - I learned a lot about Nowa Huta (its origins, history and life there), and Monika was able to answer all the questions I had along the way (of which there were many!) I was the only one on the tour, so great interactive experience. My learning went beyond just Nowa Huta - our conversation also led me to gain a better insight into life in Poland today. Highly recommended!

Tomasz led us on a very insightful and awesome tour. I’m so glad we booked this because it allowed us to see another side of Kraków and peel back all the layers this wonderful town holds. He’s super engaging and had personal stories he could tie into the history of Nowa Huta!

After taking this tour, I wish that everyone who visits Krakow would take it! It is so different than the other attractions of Krakow and offers so much! It is definitely something that needs to be done with a guide. Tomas was so friendly, knowledge, and put up with our many questions about life during communism in this area. We had a great time exploring the history of the area and stopping for some pretty amazing snacks along the way :) Cannot recommend this experience enough!

This tour with Tomasz was incredible!!! I would highly recommend this tour to others as it is very different from what you would experience in Krakow from the other tours offered. Tomasz was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable - we had a great time with him! We loved exploring the Nowy Huta area and hearing about what life was like in Poland during communism. He shared many personal experiences and stories from his childhood, which really added to our experience and understanding. Everything was very well organized and we did not feel rushed. More tourists should take advantage of this tour and learn about a unique time in history just a stone’s throw away from the beauty of Old Town.
Tomasz was an awesome host and did a super job showing us around. He also gave us great food recommendations and nice drink spots to check out during our visit. Thanks so much Tomasz!
