Co budeš dělat
Meet at an easy-to-find central location and then wind your way through the narrow streets and alleys by tuktuk within the Xi’an City Wall to find the best food in the city. We’ll take you places where only locals go. You’ll cover a lot of ground and get off the beaten path to family-run restaurants that you (and other tourists) won’t find on your own.
Between food stops, you’ll be able to chat with your host about the city while drinking unlimited chilled beer and soda during the ride. While visiting our 4-5 food stops, you will get to learn about the families that have been making their specialties for generations. You’ll watch your food being made and learn about what makes it so special to Xi'an locals.
Whether it’s sitting by an old man grilling meat over coals in a quaint Muslim Quarter alleyway, or watching noodles hand-pulled to order, there is something to try for everyone. The experience will finish at the only local brewery in Xi'an where you can tour the facility and sample what’s on tap before we treat you to a pint of your choice.
Other things to note
Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking.
Children 3 and under can go for free with every 2 paying adults.
Operates in all weather conditions, rain, snow, or shine.

We are a bunch of Xian locals from Lost Plate Food Tours who love food. We enjoy bringing people from all over the world to try food that are authentic to the locals but are hard for tourists to find on their own.
Faye is a kindhearted Xian local who volunteers at the Stray Dog Shelter in the city and also a big foodie. Harvey married a Xian local and has been living in Xian for over a decade! The culture, food and history of the city fascinates him. Nina is a student who studies in Xian for her master’s degree. She fell in love with the city and wants to introduce it to the rest of the world!

Most of the places that we visit on the tour are small family-run eateries that are open for a long time and frequented by locals. We visit the same eateries every night on the tour so we know that the food is safe and consistent in quality. The brewery that we visit at the end of the tour is family friendly.

Michelle was great on this tour!! However, the tour itself felt very touristy and forced. We were shuffled to a bunch of restaurants and had tons of food. However, as someone who LOVES food tours, this one felt incredibly commercial and not the local experience I was expecting.

My hosts, Jessie and Joy, were exceptional!! Jessie grew up in Xi'an and went to school in the same neighborhood (Muslim Quarter) as the tour was in. She gave us an awesome perspective of the local area and took us to 4 awesome restaurants and a final stop at a local brewery. Joy also taught us a lot about Chinese culture and history, explaining why each dish was special and how it was made.
If you're headed to Xi'an and you can fit this tour in your schedule, definitely book it. These folks know the area really well and showed us places we couldn't have found ourselves. I'll book this again when I return to Xi'an with more friends.

quiet unique tour, exploring few different local food and some history behind it. However, it does have some flaws: it could be hard to communicate to tour guide since she was busy handling other stuff and her accents. Maybe reducing the size of group(we had 10 people in the group) be helpful to improve. Also, it seemed the tour guide changed our schedule without notifying us: it is my understanding that she told us we could experience the local noodle(biang biang noodle) but we ended up eating some vegetable noodles. Overall, I would not recommend the tour if you have time to research.
