Co budeš dělat

Our group will meet in the local pub The Confession Box. This pub happens to have the best Guinness !! Its also has a fascinating history going back nearly a 100 years !!

We will have taste of of the Guinness and maybe the Smithwicks Irish Ale in The Confession Box. Once the group is ready we make our way along Marlborough Street past the stunning Tyrone House (1740), St Marys Pro Cathederal (1830).

Overlooking Tyrone House is my apartment where our Irish food tasting will take place. I will begin by explaining the history of the Irish potato cake and how it relates to The Great Irish Famine of the 1840s. We will serve the potato cakes as a sharing platter of Irish food. This platter will include Irish cheeses, local gourmet Irish sausages, traditional black pudding, fried ham and fresh salad. Naturally we will have Guinness and some other local ales to enjoy with the food !!

To finish the Experience we will take a short walk to The Potin Bar on Green St.

Hi all !
My name is Steve. I have over 15 years experience in the food business in Dublin City. I am now setting up another business .... The Irish Potato Cake Company !!! I am currently promoting this unique Irish food concept in street-food popup and promotional situations and now we wish to share it with Airbnb visitors to Dublin.

As a business owner, manager and chef for over 15 years in Dublin I feel very comfortable hosting guests and sharing my knowledge of Irish food. Visitors to Dublin always ask me about Irish food but the offering is very limited especially in the casual food sector.
I have actually traced potato cake-making all the way back to the Great Famine and and across the Atlantic to Boston and New York. A wonderful piece of Irish food history and we want to bring it back with a modern twist !

Kde budeš

Meeting point is The Confession Box pub on Marlborough St. Very historic traditional Irish pub voted best bar in Dublin in 2016 and 2017 !!

My apartment is a typical modern city centre apartment which overlooks the beautiful Tyrone House(1740) and park.

Our final stop is Bar 1661 Ireland's first Potin bar. It has a great selection of Potin and Potin coctails and the owner can describe the history of Potin-making in Ireland.

Steve's Irish food trail was great fun! Steve is a wonderful host, friendly, expert and attentive. He introduced us to our fellow guests at the first of two terrific pubs--one historic and casual, and one also historic and more upscale and elegant. His "Irish tapas" creations were delicious, served up with a series of vibrant, beers, ciders and other libations, as well as lots of lively, informative conversation. It was a lovely, convivial get-together, and a great introduction to Irish hospitality!

This was a very unique "food tour". After meeting at a local historic pub for a quick pint, the group of 9 actually went to Steve's apartment where we sampled foods and beer, got a tin whistle demonstration, and had a great chat with Steve, his friends/helpers, and the other tour guests. Most of the time was spent here. Finally, on to an upscale bar for a poitin tasting (think Irish Moonshine), and then after the tour was over we stayed, had cocktails and spoke to the owner and staff of the bar. As you can see, this was very unique and very personal. Great experience, but not a standard food tour. We've been on a lot of food tours, so really appreciated the view of real life in Dublin! Great value, we were really happy we did it.

I really enjoyed the food trail with Steve. We got to sample Guinness and Poitin-based cocktails in a couple of Irish pubs that were in the city centre but off the tourist trail. We met the man who distilled the poitin and he spoke to us about the process and let us sample a few. In between the pubs we went to Steve's apartment where we were served Irish-style tapas: including soda bread, black pudding, potato cakes with different ingredients and we sampled more drinks: including ciders and ale. Steve is very friendly and enthusiastic and was happy to share his knowledge of Irish food. The other people in the group were friendly too, so all in all, it was a really enjoyable and interesting experience.

Great Fun! Steve showed up some of the favorite spots in his neighborhood, and then invited us into his home where he served us a wide range of Irish snacks and beverages. He showcased a range of tasty things from around Ireland, not just the potato! After that, we went to a local bar where they made us a delicious drink from a local poitín distillery, with a tasting and brief lecture. As a bonus, everyone else on the tour we're really friendly and fun to talk to. Felt like and afternoon hanging out with friends and locals.
