Co budeš dělat

We will gather to sew tiny kimonos for our favorite dolls. I will show you how to make a miniature kimono out of vintage Japanese silk fabrics—which themselves come from older kimonos—using a traditional hand-sewing method. If you're interested, I will also show you how to make an obi, the sash that ties the kimono together. The kimonos we make will be haute-couture, so bring your favorite plush doll and we'll dress it together.
I would love to share the precious moments of hand making your own Kimono for your love one.You will also enjoy traditional Japanese dishes from my kitchen for a meal.

I am a certified kimono maker and a strong believer in the Japanese spirit of "Mottainai": not letting anything go to waste. Since I have beautiful heirloom silk fabrics and sewing techniques that are difficult to find outside of Japan, I'd love to pass the richness of both along to you.
I also tell you any stories of kimono or patterns of textile.
There are so many meanings on them.
Also I have a permission to teach how to wear a kimono.
I will show you some kimonos which I made. I have a national permission.

Kde budeš

We'll meet at the ticket gate of the Musashi-Seki station on the Seibu Shinjuku line, then walk to my home, which is ten minutes by foot.
My place is a typical tiny Japanese apartment and we sew a kimono sitting on a floor. A real Japanese style. Please make sure to be comfortable as we spend long hours.

I enjoyed this experience a lot! Akiko met up with me at the station. We had a lot of similar interests and so it was easy to build rapport and conversations were easy, friendly, and fun. The lunch was hearty, and I enjoyed it! She asks if you have any allergies or preferences, but I didn't, so she prepared for me a very nice typical Japanese meal, which I enjoyed. She helped a lot with making the kimono. There was no rush in sewing, but I really took a long time since I'm not quite used to it. Be prepared to spend a but more time than what is expected for this experience, if you are a novice at sewing. It was a very good way to end my trip alone in Japan. Also, she walks you back to the station, which was very gracious of her. Recommended!

Sewing with Akiko was a lovely experience. She guided us through each step, from consulting on fabric choices to how to finish each section of my chosen piece (in my case, a jinbei for a Rilakkuma I had recently bought). For trickier parts like the lapel, she did herself, but more experienced sewers can probably do more by themselves. And, from start to finish all of the sewing took around 8 hours so the extra help was very helpful. I think what really made the experience was that Akiko was so warm and friendly. Including lunch I was there for probably 9 hours, but it seemed to fly by since we were always engaged in conversation. I personally had no difficulty communicating; Akiko had a very genuine interest in learning more English and about what's popular in America and such. I think we both picked up some new words and phrases along the way. Overall, I had a wonderful time and got to come home with a one-of-a-kind souvenir and fun memories :)

Akiko is a wonderful and friendly individual. She is extremely knowledgeable on kimono making and I felt welcomed throughout the lesson. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who want something cool and unique to remember their trips in Japan.

It was a really great experience. Akiko was very friendly and easygoing. Her English was very good and she really tried to make you feel comfortable. Because I'm left handed we had to do a few things differently, she didn't have a pair of scissors that I could use and the pins had to be placed differently, but she easily worked around it. The lunch she provided was very good and we talked a lot about everything. I had a great time and the kimono turned out amazing.

Akiko-San is such an amazing host who has a passion to share her knowledge. Since the experience takes 6+ hours, we talked a lot about each other. She did everything to make a guest comfortable and welcomed. The stuffed doll that I brought was not a typical shaped doll, but she immediately adjusted her pattern to match the measurement. In addition to the doll kimono making, Akiko-San made me an amazing Japanese lunch and prepared me a desert. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend to everyone.

Akiko is very friendly and helpful! We had a nice time chatting and understanding each other's culture while making the kimono. On the side note, her lunch is superb. Love it!
