Weird-Bar Crawl with Fanatical Local
HEY. Do you want to see Portland through the eyes of its BIGGEST FAN? Are you curious about communities that prioritize PEOPLE, CREATIVITY, and CRAFT BEERS? Are you ready to embark on an ALL YOU CAN PORTLAND BUFFET through a walking tour featuring LOCAL HOTSPOTS and COOL STORIES? Then I’ve got the adventure for you: THIS TOUR. This walking tour explores where the locals go for Portland's nightlife! I show you the soul of the city by immersing you in its neighborhood culture. This means checking out a neighborhood district, drinking taps from neighborhood breweries, and getting the neighborhood perspective by interacting with someone who lives here! By the end of the walking tour, we’ll have made a mildly-inebriated adventure from seeing why the people of Portland are the attraction of the city. People who find this tour meaningful: 1. People who prefer a Drink, Eat, Drink night rather than a Drink, Drink, Drink night. 2. People who prefer to explore with welcoming friends rather than alone. 3. People who enjoy open-minded discussions and appreciate collecting new perspectives. 4. People with no time to grow roots in the city, but want to know where they'd hang out if they lived here. "I could see myself moving to Portland." - Every Person, from Everywhere Don't see a time frame that works? Message me for special arrangements! LET'S GET WEIRD.
Three waterfalls tour including Multnomah Falls and Vista
Meet downtown and head to the Columbia Gorge to enjoy 3 amazing waterfalls. All of the waterfalls are located in the Columbia Gorge which is about 30 mins outside of Portland. Each of the hikes will be about a mile or less. We will have the opportunity to get as close as you like to the falls and learn about this amazing part of the world. This experience is appropriate for all fitness levels. Other things to note It might be a good idea to bring some shoes with decent traction but it's not absolutely necessary. We will be traveling through the Historic Columbia River Highway, which was completed in 1915 and is now considered a National Historic Landmark. We will see 3 amazing waterfalls all within the Columbia Gorge. We will also stop by the Vista House. -Latourell falls- At 249 feet, it is a .4 mile hike roundtrip. -Bridal Veil falls- At 118 feet, it is a 1.4 mile hike roundtrip. -Multnomah Falls- At 620, is is a .4 miles hike roundtrip.
Multnomah Zen, a four waterfall scenic hiking experience
Multnomah Falls and other waterfalls and vistas of the Columbia Gorge are astonishing icons of geology, the sort that have inspired mythology and lore of warriors, gods and passions in every world culture. Meet the tallest waterfall in the state, and a few of the shorter but even more stunning ones, too; falls which could only be the daughters and sons of legend. In this half-day experience, we will explore wonders with some short hikes (totaling less than 2.5 miles/4 km) and visits to overlooks and vistas that will have you gasping in awe. While Multnomah Falls and its iconic Benson Bridge are together the most-visited tourist attraction in the Portland area, they are only a part of our experience. We will meet at our shop in inner SE Portland, where we'll ride in our comfortable Sprinter and Transit vans to the nearby gorge. Depending on weather conditions, we could visit a few small hidden waterfalls or spectacular plunge-style falls whose columnar basalt has us learning words for "amazing" in other languages. We'll also tell you stories, geology, botany and oft-repeated tales of pioneers and road-builders, but also the old stories we've learned, of gods and wild spirits and about the oldest North American civilization, forever altered by “manifest destiny." Please note we book directly as well as through AirBNB, and your group may be up to 10.
Fragrance Design Workshop
We’ll introduce you to the process and materials that comprise fragrance creation. We'll spend about half the workshop smelling our way through a selection of over 30 raw ingredients, while discussing fragrance and blending techniques. You'll spend the remainder of the workshop developing and blending your own fragrance, with tips and pointers along the way. After this, you'll turn your fragrance into an oil-based roll-on personal fragrance. You’ll take home your very own scent creation compounded and mixed into a 10mL roll-on bottle of perfume. Other things to note: Avoid wearing strong fragrances to this workshop as it may disrupt yours' and others' olfactory experience.
Downtown Coffee & Donut Tour
Come walk around the bustling streets of Downtown Portland with your local guide and discover why Portland is the coffee and donut capital of the world! We'll visit several genuinely local craft coffee houses for an interactive look at different styles and flavors of coffee. Plus we’ll munch on a bunch of locally-made donuts from shops you can only find right here in Portland. We like to think this the perfect way to discover Downtown Portland, see where locals get their coffee and donut fix, and have fun! Some things you can expect: - At least three different types of coffee and plenty of donuts at a total of 4-5 different shops. (Reasonable drinking sizes that most coffee drinkers can handle and enjoy.) - Devour several different flavors of classic donuts from a tiny donut shop. - Learn all about coffee and its history, including how coffee's third wave movement started right here in Portland! - Walk around the bustling streets of downtown to discover Portland’s quirkiness and preserved remnants of an historic past. - Learn the technique of brewing the perfect cup of coffee from a barista extraordinaire. - Visit the most unique Portland donut shop and find out why the donuts take 3-days to make. - Stand in Pioneer Courthouse Square and learn all about “Portland’s Living Room”. *We do not visit Voodoo or Blue Star during this tour as they are on the common tourist track.

Pottery Wheel Lesson at Artist Loft
Each person gets 1 hour on the wheel! This experience is 2 hours for 2 people. If it's just you book for one person. If there are two, please book two slots. The first 5 minutes of class I will give you a brief tour of Everett Station Lofts. I will then take you upstairs to the my shared art studios loft. You will get access to a local Portland artists’ studio and a chance to see behind the scenes of the artists’ process as well as works in progress. What is unique about this space is all of the residents are practicing artists. It is a great space to get a peek into the Portland art scene. I will start the instruction by explaining the main principles of wheel throwing technique using visual aids. We will then move into the practical instruction. I will instruct you on centering the clay on the wheel, using the coning technique to prep the clay, and finally pulling the clay into its final form. You will have enough time to make between 1-2 pieces depending on what you choose to create. Some great first project ideas include: mug, bowl, etc. You might get muddy! Each students get 1 hour of instruction time. Come with a strong vision in mind or we can create something unique together! The goal of this class is for you to leave with a solid knowledge of beginner wheel throwing technique

Portland's Underground Donut Tour
On this tour, you'll join me as we explore the city and food culture through the medium of donuts. You'll learn history of Portland, each donut location, how they fit into the larger food scene, as well as try some amazing donuts. We start near the PSU campus where we begin at Sesame Donuts and try some of their amazing sesame donuts as well as many others. We then take a nice walk through central Portland over to Fills Donuts to sample some of their daily specials. Their menu changes often. From there, it's off to NOLA Doughnuts where we'll sample beignets and some of the best chocolate donuts you've ever had. We'll finish the tour at Voodoo Doughnuts, where you can even skip the line (sometimes a 30-60 minute ordeal). We hope you can join us! Other things to note Currently, many of these shops do not have gluten free or vegan options, so options are very limited.
Learn the joy/relaxation of cow milking
We will teach you how to milk a cow. *At the beginning we allow you time to spend with the animals. Petting, brushing, or just hanging out with them. *Next we take you through what we feed our animals and how we care for them. We can talk about what goes into the cleanliness of the process and getting everything ready. *We will then go through the experience of milking the cow (whether by hand or with the machine, you decide). Allowing you to do as much of the work as you feel comfortable with. *Afterwards we will strain the milk and get it cooled and clean up. *Before you leave we will give you the opportunity to taste any of the products from our farm with the option to purchase milk at a 50% discount. *Congrats! You will have milked a cow!
Edible Mushrooms for Beginners Hike
Come learn the basics of mushroom hunting in this field class and hike. I'll introduce important ID concepts, and a dozen beginner-friendly species of the Pacific Northwest. Of course we will cover critical safety advice. The field class portion will be about 1 to 1. 5 hours, and then we'll explore and mushroom hunt for another 2 hours on a hike. The whole experience will be outdoors. I ask that participants either show their vaccination card, or wear a mask when within 10 feet of others. (I'm fully vaccinated and boosted.) We'll be able to spread out at times on the hike, at which time folks can take a break from masking. Some hunting off the trail will be done for those who want to. Bring water, raingear and grippy hiking shoes/boots, at a minimum. I'll provide you with a folding knife, field guides to share, and a bag for collecting mushrooms, if you don't have these items. I always carry the ten essentials of hiking, like a first aid kit, flashlights, etc. I look forward to a great day exploring, learning, and discovering amazing mushrooms together!
Gorge waterfall hike and bike adventure
Our experience provides the best of its category -- best bicycles, guides, vehicles! We transport our guests and bikes in Mercedes Sprinters or roomy Transits, and our guides ride with very small groups. We'll visit waterfalls you will not see on other tours. You'll immerse yourself in the temperate rainforest! We tell the stories that need to re-awaken. Beyond the 180 years of pioneers and loggers, before the century-old highway, this was the land of people with a rich mythology. We remember the long history this place holds, and tell these stories as best we can. After we fit you for bikes at our shop in SE Portland, we'll drive out toward adventure. The bike ride and hike both take place in the Columbia River Gorge, the waterfall-laden western end of an 80-mile (130-km) canyon. At a breathtaking vista overlooking the Gorge, we'll take photos, and hear the story of who was here before us. Over the course of the tour, we'll ride 4-6 miles (7-10 km), gentle downhill and some uphill (depending on your group) on a historic highway frequented by cyclists, see four waterfalls including Multnomah Falls, hike about 1.0-2 miles (2-4km) -- all within a 30-40 min drive of the city. The tour is 4-5 hours; you'll remember it for years to come! Please note we book directly as well as through AirBNB, and your overall tour group may be up to 10.
Explore Local Oddities with Odd Local
POP QUIZ: Are you here to absorb authentic Portland culture? BONUS CREDIT: Are you trying to live like a local while you are? Because Portland is a MILLENNIAL PLAYGROUND best understood when explored like someone from here. How do we do that? Here are the locals' favorite pastimes: picking up cannabis from the neighborhood dispensary, grabbing drinks at a cozy cafe, eating plant-based food done right, and sipping crafts at an eclectic bar! So for starters, we'll sniff around a CANNABIS DISPENSARY to kick things off on a high note. Second, we'll sip tea inside a LIVING ROOM CAFE that's been converted from a Pixar-esque residence. Third, we'll grab meals from a VEGAN EATERY featuring meat and cheese alternatives that are as tasty as they are innovative. And lastly, we'll drink beers at a SEVEN STORY BAR that used to be a hidden back room of a live theater. To explore the city like a true Portlander, I’ll be your guide to show you where you’d go and how you’d do it. Along the way, I'll enlighten you to the community's culture and provide custom recommendations on how to live like the locals! "I would've never found these places on my own." - Every Person, from Everywhere Don't see a time frame that works? Message me for special arrangements! LET'S GET WEIRD.

Walk the famous Wildwood Trail, hug the 242' tallest American city tree, enjoy a babbling creek + waterfalls, wild birdsong, walk in the Old Stone House, and snap selfies at the summit viewpoint overlooking Portland and Mt Hood. We continue downhill, over the elegant Walker footbridge for more glorious Wildwood trail steps thru Washington Park + Hoyt Arboretum, relax on the Redwood Forest deck benches, inspect exotic trees from around the world, and finish at our famous Japanese Garden and International Rose Test Garden complex (tour on your own if you wish). This 5-mile hike with 900-foot vertical gain is perfect for fitness seekers, will last about 3.5 hours and can be tailored! Want a 2-hour version? Decide at the top to grab a Lyft/Uber to skip the 2nd half. Waste no precious vacation time: our trail's start and end are less than 3 miles from Portland's center. Bring light layers for a 3-hour experience. It's a splendid hike in the rain, but bring a raincoat + hat/hood. Comfy walking / running shoes or light hikers are best for our unpaved forest trail. Portland’s #1 hike, since 2018!
Family Forest Bathing
We will take a 1 ½ hour forest bathing walk geared to connecting families with children with the More Than Human World and each other. During the walk, I will offer a series of invitations to help families engage their senses and imaginations, connect with the natural world, and experience the fun and restorative qualities of nature.
Beginner's glass blowing lessons in North Portland
Ever been interested in trying your hand at blowing glass? Join me in my private borosilicate glass studio for one-on-one instruction on how to make your first piece of glass art! I’m a professional borosilicate glass blower with over 10 years of experience and am offering private classes in my home studio in North Portland. Students will be taught basic glass blowing safety, skills, and will have the opportunity to create 2-3 pieces of glass art in a two-hour beginner’s lesson. Depending on experience, participants will have the chance to create a variety of items including marbles (typical for beginners), small sculptures, or a small glass ornament. If you make a fun marble I'm happy to turn it into a wine bottle stopper for you! Students get to keep any glass they create, and gain knowledge and hands-on experience in a very unique field. *Glass made during lesson will require kilning for durability, which takes a minimum of 4 hours. Most students choose to pick up the glass they made the next day (or at their earliest convenience). Interested in a class for two people? I'm happy to accommodate an extra person but only have one torch set up at a time, so both individuals will take turns blowing glass. In order to make sure you both get adequate time on the torch, I recommend extending class time to about 3 hours. Feel free to message me with any questions.
Private ceramic lessons on a peaceful farm
Come and spend a day at a farm and make art! We are a woman owned organic farm located near the Sandy River. We have converted a century old dairy barn into a ceramic studio. Let’s spend the day playing with clay and learning together. Here we have options based around your skill level and interests. I can lead you on the potters wheel or in hand building techniques. For an additional cost of it is possible for me to fire your projects in my kiln and you can choose a glaze color for your finished piece and I will ship them to you. (Kiln fee $25 per person plus shipping) After finishing our projects we can walk around the farm, say hi to some animals and I can offer tips to find great nearby river spots! Please have a look on my IG for more pictures of this experience @sandyriverstudio
