Little cabin in the woods on a lakeWelcome to the little cabin. This log cabin is right outside Soldotna quietly tucked away off the beaten path. It is about 10 minutes from the mighty Kenai river and town. Beautiful lake view to wake up to and start your day.
The hand hewn log cabin was built in the late 1800's by Russian settlers and is located in the historic native/Russian settlement of Ninilchik. (An idyllic village that sits on the Cook Inlet, through which the lovely winding Ninilchik River runs.) 180 mile drive from anchorage and only 35 miles from famous Homer, Alaska on the Kachemak bay. You will have total privacy but if you need anything im a 5 minute walk down the road and always reachable by phone.
Our cabin has all the essentials of home, coffee, tea, cooking spices. The kitchen is also stocked with dishes, pots, pans, and utensils. We are located 20 miles from Soldotna. There is a gas station, cafe & grocery store about 7 miles away. We overlook Cook Inlet & have a towrope to the beach. There is a road to the beach a mile down the road. On a good tide people have caught salmon & halibut off the beach. We are located 7 miles from the Kasilof river & 6 from the mouth of the river.
Birch and Borealis sits on a beautifully forested 15 acres with sprawling views of the Kenai mountains. Located halfway between the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers, our property backs up to the 1.9 million acres of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Wildlife frequent our property to include eagles, moose, caribou, great horned owls, and Sandhill cranes. It is the perfect place to relax and coordinate your fishing expeditions in a cozy, classy space, thoughtfully equipped for all your travel needs.
Enjoy the privacy and scenic views of Cook Inlet waterway and Mt Illiamna while sitting in the hot tub or cooking in the kitchen. The Homestead Trail is just behind our property so come with your cross country skis or snow shoes in the winter or hiking boots in the summer and hit the trails right from the house. Bring your dogs with you on vacation. We have a fenced yard (when snow melts) and an indoor kennel for them while you go enjoy a day fishing or exploring.

Grab your cross county skis and head out the door to the trails. No TV or WiFi. 50-gallon water barrel with an outdoor sink is available behind the cabin in the summer. Shared outdoor shower available in the summer.
