The house is a wooden structure built in the 1990’s in the style common to many of the island’s oldest dwellings: high, exposed beam ceilings, wide open wrap-around porches and large windows. These features create spaces where the distinction between indoors and out becomes a beautiful blur, and you can embrace your connection with the lush flora and lively fauna that surround you.

Morningstar Cottage is set in an area that feels secluded, but is not remote. So, you can enjoy your privacy while home, but be within about 15 minutes from Pinney’s Beach, a popular (but not crowded) spot with great swimming and many excellent choices for food and drink (which, as is mandatory, must include the world famous “Killer Bee” at Sunshine’s). There are a number of other wonderful beaches all around the island that are beautiful, fun and easy to get to.
You will also be very near to the island’s breathtaking Botanical Gardens, which offer an extensive collection of native and exotic plants in a beautiful setting. After your tour of the Gardens, climb the stairs up to the elevated porch and your table for an exquisite lunch at the Garden’s Thai restaurant. Maria and I still aren’t sure which is best – The food (and drink), the service or the view. Let us know what you think.
