“SHASTA” is a Livestock Guardian Dog whose main job is to keep predators (ie coyotes, fox & raccoons) at bay. She is a lover, not a fighter, but has a big bark and likes her space. Please letr her come to you and do not crowd her. Her way of “alerting” us of a potential danger is to use her bark. Please be patient with her. If she is barking at you, please call out her name and acknowledge her... she just wants to say hello. She will sure to be your best friend once she gets to know you.

We have five Nigerian Dwarf Goats. Two are being rehabilitated back to health due to prolonged sickness’. “LUNA” (Black with moon spots) has a persistent cough that still plagues her after a bout with pneumonia and a stroke this winter. “OLAF”, the small caramel colored weather (a fixed boy goat), has a case of dermatitis and is very itchy. He is a love though, and craves attention.
GOAT CARE: Please let us know if you would like to be a part of any goat care tasks (ie bathing, hoof trimming, running them, etc)
GOAT TIPS: Goats do not have top teeth in the front, however they have powerful choppers in the back of their mouth and can do some damage if you let them nibble on your fingers, clothes or hair. Please feed them with flat palms and in the presence of Amylyn and Jonas ONLY.
DO NOT FEED THEM SCRAPS- they have sensitive digestive systems and will get sick if they have the wrong food.

We have 48 mixed breeds birds. They provide us with fresh eggs daily. We feed our girls organic layer pellets and let them free range with the goats, so they can have access to fresh forage/protein.
Please do not chase them. We would be happy to show you how to pick them up and pet them.
IMPORTANT: Please wash your hands with soap and water after handling the chickens or their eggs.

We have four rescue indoor/outdoor cats. They will not have access to your unit if you keep your doors closed. Please keep them out of the sleeping units, as we want to honor those with allergies. WARNING: Occasionally the kitties will access the roof and scratch at your skylight window. This can be a bit disconcerting in the middle of the night. Just pull the shade and they will be on their way. Their names are Bean, Barley, Neko & Pele and are very sweet..

Jonas says of his personal philosophy regarding yoga practice, “When I practice yoga, I move away from the external stimulation that tells me I should be this or do that. I reconnect with a true place inside myself that invites me to express myself authentically with confidence and clarity.” Amylyn has almost 20 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, working with people of all ages and abilities, with her passion lies in connecting animals with humans and considers it the ultimate healing experience. She also holds a degree in Outdoor Education and has spent many years guiding youth and adult groups into the wilderness and facilitating ropes course adventures. She spends much of her time in the vegetable gardens, cultivating the herb gardens and continuing to grow their vision of a sustainable and self sufficient life-style. In the summer months she loves to explore the the salt marshes in her kayak, biking the winding sea roads and surrounding herself in the beauty of nature. Together Amylyn and Jonas love to bring people together in a creative and nurturing way. Their home has been a hub for monthly community fires and they have hosted a number of bands for midsummer celebrations. They envision growing Shilo Farm into a place where friends, family and strangers alike can gather and share in music, food, and meaningful conversation. Our vision is always growing and we hope you can come and visit and be a part of our creative process!!!!
