Newly refurbished quirky flat converted from an old dairy, spacious accommodation, fully furnished and equipped for up to 4 guests. Grd floor with on site parking, a short walk to excellent pubs, restaurants, and independent shops and cafes with a bus stop and train station close by. Ideally situated to explore the surrounding area by car or public transport, great cycle routes and walks in the local countryside, with a range of beaches less than an hour away. Ideal for corporate clients too.

Prostor
You will have the entire flat to yourself - the front door opens into the main living area, consisting of a dining space with a table and 4 chairs; a small desk and chair work space; and a lounge area with a sofa bed and 2 easy chairs, coffee table and smart TV. This space was originally The Old Dairy - a shop to buy a range of dairy products as well as having a bottle return, sweet selection and producing milkshakes for customers to drink on site. Many of the locals remember returning their pop bottles for 5p and spending their money on milk duds or sitting on milk churn seats at a bar in the window drinking milkshakes and watching the world go by.
It ceased trading as a dairy in the late 1990s and my partner built the extension which now houses the corridor beyond the lounge door with a kitchen, bedroom and generous shower room. There are 2 steps into the extension.

There is a back door leading into a shared courtyard, a section of which includes a shared seating area. Cars move in and out from time to time, so please make sure children are supervised. The kitchen windows have been partially covered with opaque film to give you and us a little more privacy, but you are welcome to use the outside space to sit out.

The Sofa bed is a ‘click clack’ so is easy to change into a bed if you lift the front seat up until you hear the ‘click’ then lower it down. Bedding is kept in the blanket box in the main bedroom. We ask that you remove the grey sofa cover and use the mattress protector and bottom sheet provided when using this bed. I will happily reassemble it into a sofa either each morning of your stay or at the end of your visit if you are happy to do the conversions during your stay.
A further ‘put you up’ single bed is available for a child on request for a small surcharge payable in advance. We do not currently have a travel cot on site but one can be arranged for a surcharge on request too.

The shower room has a hair and body wash dispenser in the shower as well as a soap dispenser at the sink ( there are a sink and toilet not shown in the pictures!)
There is also a heated towel rail in the shower room for you to hang your towels after use - if you need fresh towels during your stay please let me know, towels and bedding are changed every seven days if you are booked to stay longer than that and I come into do a weekly clean too.

Business clients may book multiple weeks but will need to allow for the weekly clean and have one night per week away from the property to allow for this clean. Personal belongings can be stored for you during the weekly ‘reset’.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a washer dryer, fridge freezer, electric cooker, 4 slice toaster, microwave and kettle, and there are glass pots of coffee, tea, sugar and biscuits on the window ledge. I will also leave a pint of fresh milk in the fridge for your arrival. The cupboards and drawers have tableware, mugs, glasses and a few basics like bin liners and cling film as well as space for any food you want to store. The flooring in the kitchen is reclaimed wood flooring from a period house which has been sanded and varnished.

Morrison’s supermarket is literally just up the road - a 2 minute walk - with great parking and everything you need for a self catering break, I will leave basic cleaning stuff, tea towels etc. There is also a Tesco as you drive into Crediton and a Tesco Express and a Co-op on the high street.

There is an iron and ironing board plus a vacuum cleaner and basic cleaning stuff in the walk in cupboard in the lounge, should you need it, but don’t feel you need to clean during your stay!

The bedroom has a hanging rail with coat hangers, chest of drawers and 2 bedside tables as well as the double bed. There is enough space for a travel cot in here too if you need one.

There will be a welcome pack on the dining table for you on arrival, if you would like me to get anything special to surprise a fellow guest with, please ask. ( flowers, chocolates etc - I draw the line at a ring though!) I can even make you a Devon cream tea!

We look forward to hosting you soon.

Přístup pro hosty
The flat has its own front and back door with exclusive use for guests of all internal spaces, only the patio area is shared. The patio area is part of a courtyard used by cars so children should be supervised whilst in this area.

Další věci, které stojí za zmínku
There are several pubs, restaurants, cafes and takeaways in Crediton, I am happy to make recommendations depending on requirements.
many of our cafes and restaurants are independents although we do have a Costa Coffee and a Wetherspoons. The Market Square also has three coffee shops, one that specialises in coffee and roasts it’s own beans - Crediton Coffee Company - an other is Ashtons which has sandwiches, Jacket potatoes etc and is really inexpensive with a bit more of a traditional feel to it. The third is the Boabab Cafe which specialises in Turkish food.
There are 2 other coffee shops as well as Costas on the high street- Cocos - serving coffee and a range of homemade cakes- and Wedges - a lunch cafe. Restaurant wise, we have a Thai restaurant, a Tandoori restaurant that usually does a Sunday buffet, a steak house and a pub restaurant called the 3 Pigs with good food and decor that is a wonder to behold! They do a Sunday carvery too. We have a Marstons pub restaurant down by the Tesco’s and Mole Avon superstore.

The takeaways include an Indian, 2 chip shops, a kebab shop and 3 Chinese takeaways.

There are a number of pubs throughout Crediton, starting on Mill street is the Crediton Inn, then the Plymouth Inn on Dean Street opposite the Church, then up the high street to the Ship Hotel and the Mitre, the 3 Pigs in the Market Square and Wetherspoons half way up the high street, then a final pub - the Duke of York at the top of the high street. We recently lost two other pubs to market forces. We have a number of local breweries a short walk or bus ride away, a case in point is Sandford Orchards a Cider brewer less than 5 minutes walk from the Old Dairy. They hold events on certain nights including a pizza night on Fridays and Saturdays. You can buy Cider direct from the on site shop or it is stocked in supermarkets and National Pub chains.

We have 2 independent bakeries - Oliver’s and Stevie B’s - and a lovely butchers, greengrocers and florist as well as a wine merchant, deli, bookshop and whole foods shop.

Interestingly there are 3 (!) tattooists as well as a motorbike shop and biker cafe near the church, and a well-respected independent bike shop (pedal bikes) if you are a keen cyclist. We are on the route for the 55 mile and 100 mile charity bike ride called the Nello which attracts over a thousand riders. Crediton and the surrounding area is a great training ground for hilly cycling events.

If you fancy a pamper, there are numerous barbers, hair dressers and beauty parlours, google in advance to book as most don’t take walk-ins.

Devon, Anglie, Spojené království

The Old Dairy is on Mill Street, just down the road from a Morrisons supermarket and a local pub, and a short walk up the hill to the main Town Square with shops (mainly independent), cafes, restaurants, takeaways and pubs. The town also boasts an impressive CofE church, as well as several other denominational places of worship; a sports centre with modern swimming pool; and a plethora of charity shops for bargain hunters. Crediton was originally the main town for Devon, until Exeter eclipsed it when trading moved down to use the better forms of transport available there. This is one of the reasons why the church is so imposing, and why Crediton used to have its own Bishop, before this position was also moved to Exeter when the Cathedral was built.

Crediton lies in a steep valley between rolling hills and is surrounded by some beautiful countryside, including a country park on the outskirts of the town and many public footpaths and country roads to ramble along taking in the views.

Crediton can even lay claim to St Boniface, who was born in 680AD round the corner from where the Old Dairy now sits and is credited with bringing Christianity to the heathens in Germany, and the miracle of creating the first Christmas tree by chopping down an old Oak being worshipped by pagans. The Christmas tree sprang up from the stump of the oak. An interesting account of his life can be found at table 10 in the Wetherspoons pub in the main high street!
