Here's a unique opportunity to sleep in a small, private sailing vessel, Lavanderia mia, on the waterfront of Baltimore, in a secluded yet urban setting **Location on map is Inaccurate** within easy Uber distance to Fed Hill, Cross Street Market & HarborPlace - no dirty clothes to sort!!

Prostor
This accommodation is a unique, small, historic sailboat; that is totally sea-worthy; but shall remain fully at dock during your stay. The boat is named "Lavanderia mia" which means, "my laundromat" in my favorite language: Italian!

Přístup pro hosty
Guests will have access to the small cabin and V-berth spaces, supplied with an electric heater in winter/fall/spring and fan in summer; well as on-site parking and use of marina restrooms and indoor/outdoor sitting/dining lounge areas, ashore. And, the open-air cockpit with a 270 view of a favorite bridge spanning the beautiful water of B'more harbor, hon!!

Další věci, které stojí za zmínku
Lavanderia mia is small. . .but sweet. She has battery-operated lights in each space of the cabin area; but requires vigilance in turning those off; to not run down the batteries. . .and, while the dock is lighted, a flashlight would help unfamiliar feet when walking to/from and on/off the vessel; as there are many trip hazards on a dock.

It is waterfront. . .sunset, waterfront!!
Along Baltimore's water edge beyond historic Federal Hill and Locust Point neighborhoods, this accommodation is set in a sweet location for both bicycle and vehicular exploration and access to great food/fun/festivals; including Ravens and Orioles stadiums; Inner Harbor attractions (Science Center, Aquarium, Hard Rock Café, Power Plant/Live, and Rash Field/Skating rink) as well as quaint neighborhood food and drink establishments along Cross Street (famous public city market), Fort Avenue (linking city to Ft. McHenry), Light Street (linking southern water hoods w/ downtown B'more, hon!), and Key Highway (with diverse offerings from Jazz Brunch at Rusty Scupper to unique art café at AVAM to authentic Cuban food and atmosphere at Little Havana!)
Mildly aglow at night, with few nearby neon signs shimmering in the water (fireworks from stadium often visible, too!!) a great spot to be in Charm City, for sure!!

Born w/ an inherent awareness of our built environment, I have always embraced my interest and passion for built structures amidst their natural settings. I surprised my family and friends by requesting a replica "town" cake when only three years old; and delighted in childhood years of hands-on activities learning spatial concepts from various miniatures. I drafted my first built project at the age of 14 years old, and solved two significant design challenges, again to the delight of my family (and ultimate dismay of the slipshod contractor!) From that experience, I progressed as somewhat of a local, small town pioneer in exploring the architecture/design industry, as the only female enrolled; and then subscribing to an independent advanced study/correspondence course; in technical/architectural drafting while in high school “shop” class. Following in the footsteps of my male cousins, I attended their alma mater and studied architectural technology; leading the AIAs (student chapter of AIA) at Fairmont State College; responding to the 1980's flood disaster by providing pro-bono building surveys in the flood path with the technical construction knowledge gained from summers spent as a student Technical Assistant in highway/bridge/building construction endeavors. From there, after a run for national office, I was determined to gain my professional degree in architecture, and thus moved to the Baltimore/Washington metro region to earn a Master of Architecture degree from the Catholic University of America; while working full time as an architectural drafting technician; progressing to architectural designer then to project architect/construction administration manager. I was introduced to world travel during a graduate study summer, and toured Europe with an architect's eye, sketchbook, and a pentax K-1000 outfitted with a wide angle lens! Upon completion of my graduate degree, I filled my "free" time with what has become nearly 25 years of pro-bono/volunteer design work with the Neighborhood Design Center in Baltimore (from which I "retired" in 2014, as a member of the Board of Directors) as well as other/similar outreach (Habitat 4 Humanity, Extreme Makeover/Home Edition, Historic District Committee, etc.) I have independently explored innovations in house designs, to the point of receipt of the 2009 MD ACI "Excellence in Concrete - Residential Design" for a sustainable, passive solar/natural convection, eco-friendly custom-built house in the Baltimore region. I seek opportunities to collaborate with nature, and have thus taken up sailing as an eco and challenging recreation, and embrace the design innovations of "boat" and passion of being on the water, propelled by wind, and fed by fun!! I also continue to embrace and/or educate both, my design-industry colleagues/clients and sail colleagues to ever improve and respond to our stewardship of this earthly context within which our lives are blessed to occur.
