Hamlet Downs is set on 36 acres of gardens, with vista views of the ponds coupled with beautiful scenery and just a short drive to the magnificent Mt Field National Park & SW Wilderness region.

It makes a perfect rest/stopover to and from Strahan, but trust me – Allow a couple of days to stay and wander the magnificent valley and explore this beautiful Derwent Valley/Central Highlands tourism destination.

You can enjoy breakfasts and dinner from our diverse and seasonal Ala Carte menu by ordering at time of booking or self-cater in your high-quality private suite, as The Hamlet Suite has its own fully equipped kitchen. There are 2 bedrooms, a lounge with cozy combustion fireplace and a spacious dining area.

Our other suites The King has a lovely kitchenette and cooking facilities, The Queen comes complete with basic amenities such as a tea/coffee, fridge and microwave, toaster and sandwich press.

Hamlet Downs Country Accommodation is just 10 minutes from Mount Field National Park and an hour's drive from Hobart, Tasmania. With recently awarded – Best Tourism Town - New Norfolk is just a scenic meandering half hour drive away with antique shops to browse and Saturday markets, you’ll be spoiled for choice of things to do.
