Set on one of the biggest working Ostrich farms in Southern Africa, only a 10 minutes drive from Oudtshoorn centre. Our 12 boutique glamping tents are positioned around a big water dam that is surrounded by various game like zebra, kudu, and eland. *Please note that Oudtshoorn is experiencing a severe drought and low dam levels can influence the number of wildlife sightings.

AfriCamps tents are proudly produced and handcrafted in South Africa, providing an attractive accommodation option to those who like the freedom of the great outdoors but don’t necessarily want to rough it. With all the comfort of a permanent structure – proper furniture, bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a solid wooden floor – they still preserve the romance and atmosphere of staying in a tent.

AfriCamps tents consist of a spacious open-plan lounge area with a comfortable couch and a fully equipped kitchen. The dining room area has a solid wooden table with enough seating for five people. For winter months the fireplace will be the perfect way to warm up the tent, bringing in an intimate setting for you and your loved ones.

Both bedrooms are furnished with an extra-length queen-size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains an extra single bunk bed, so the tent will comfortably sleep a family of five. Our tents are equipped with an air conditioning unit to keep you cool during those hot summer nights and a private bathroom with a hot shower cabin, washbasin and flushing toilet.

The private wooden deck at the front of the tent comes with comfortable wooden loungers from where you can overlook the peaceful natural surroundings of a working farm or beautiful estate. When days get warmer you can pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a big outdoor living area. Here you can unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while enjoying the beautiful weather and taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape.

You will stay in one of our luxury tents positioned around a big water dam that is surrounded by wildlife in their own natural habitat. The Karoo landscape and direct views on the Swartberg Mountains forms the perfect backdrop to relax in the tranquil surroundings of this serene majestic game farm.

Oudtshoorn is known as the ostrich capital, housing some of the largest birds in the world. It is surrounded by mountains and each entrance to this dreamy town is laced in unspoiled natural beauty. Take a hike in the Swartberg Nature Reserve, explore the famous Cango Caves, go crocodile diving or enjoy the lively town center with it’s quaint restaurants, bars and curio shops.

AfriCamps Klein Karoo is a joint venture between Schoeman and de Jager, two neighboring families. Arnold de Jager and Piet Schoeman grew up together, born and bred in Oudtshoorn, farming was always close to both of their hearts. After school they both went their separate ways. Little did they know of this great adventure awaiting them!

Both families have been farming in the Oudtshoorn area for many generations. Arnold and his wife Esti-Mari and their two sons Arnold and Michael love living on the farm and enjoy the fresh air and feeding the animals. Piet and Laura Schoeman, with their 3 children Jan-Hendrik, Stephanie and Albert take every chance they can to join the tourist tours on their farm, and love farm life.

From their joint love of animals and the hospitality industry, these 2 families started a partnership which resulted in the birth of something new, the first AfriCamps farm in South Africa!
