Swim at Plum Cove Beach, and watch beautiful sunsets over Ipswich Bay. We are a 5 min drive to Halibut Point State Park, with coastal and quarry hikes, and half way between the arts village of Rockport and historic Gloucester harbor. Health Dept. Licensed. Please see important COVID-19 restrictions below.

Prostor
This is the Gloucester Room, with framed samples of Judith's photography. One of two rooms on the second floor, with period/new mix of furniture, central heat and cozy comforter when cold, and air conditioning when hot. If both rooms are occupied, guests share a bathroom down the hall. This room has a queen size bed and a comfy mattress. Hosts live on the first floor. We desire to share this home and access to the beautiful coastline and wooded areas with others that are nourished through creation and creativity.

Přístup pro hosty
In a cranberry red dining room on the first floor we have a self serve continental breakfast of scones or muffins, cereals, yogurt, and coffee or tea. You will have access to this room anytime to store small leftovers from restaurant meals in our mini-refrigerator, or make a cup of tea or coffee.
You are welcome to our back yard. There are chairs for relaxing or star watching, and a granite picnic table made by the Finnish stone workers that were the original occupants of the home in the late 1800s.

COVID 19 Requirements
MASSACHUSETTS — Gov. Charlie Baker on Friday signed an executive order implementing new travel rules for visitors and residents returning to Massachusetts due to a surge in coronavirus cases in other states. The order goes into effect Aug. 1.

Visitors coming from out of state or residents returning to Massachusetts must fill out a health travel form and quarantine for 14 days — unless they produce a negative COVID-19 test administered no more than 72 hours before arriving or after they get to Massachusetts. People who don't quarantine must provide proof of a negative test upon request. Those who do not comply are subject to a $500-per-day fine.
The order includes college students returning to school for the fall semester

There are exemptions, including for those from states with low transmission rates. Those states include New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and Hawaii.
More info on the area: (not all of the following are open due to COVID-19)
Although in Gloucester, Lanesville is a neighborhood very close to Rockport. Rockport has a beautiful harbor known for lobstering, lots of restaurants (in the summer), many art galleries, and the "state of the art" Shalin Liu Theater for outstanding music performances. In downtown Gloucester you will find a historic seaport, the notable Cape Ann Museum, Maritime Gloucester Heritage Center, and lots of restaurants for the finest seafood and ethnic choices. There are many special events and celebrations, including St. Peter's Fiesta (a European style religious carnival, with very unique events) in late June.
We are less than two miles from Halibut State Park, preserving one of the most beautiful rugged coasts in New England. You can see one of our granite quarries and on a clear day (with binoculars), Mount Agamenticus in York, Maine.

We are located in Lanesville, a neighborhood of Gloucester, but also close to the smaller village of Rockport. Both towns offer tremendous art, history, restaurants, music and theater. Many of our guests enjoy whale watching tours or sunset sails from Gloucester Harbor and lobster dinners in Rockport.
You can walk to the village of Lanesville in 10 minutes. On the way you will see an historic graveyard and beautiful Lane's Cove which is still an active port for lobstering. In the village we have a package store, post office, hair salon and excellent coffee shop, "The Cove Cafe." We also have a Meditation Center that has some free sessions and workshops. We have two churches in the village, and a community center that hosts dances, art shows, music festivals and other special events. Walk a bit further and you are at Plum Cove, a small but beautiful swimming beach where locals gather to watch the sunset most evenings. After a 10 minute walk in the other direction, you can reach Flatrocks, a beautiful stretch of rocky coastline perfect for meditation or prayer, reading or taking a picnic dinner to watch the sun go down over Ipswich Bay. A five minute drive brings you to Halibut Point State Park, where there are beautiful hiking trails around a quarry and overlooking the wild coast. On a clear day (with binoculars) you can see Mount Agamenticus in York, Maine.

Během tvého pobytu
Due to COVID19 we will wear our masks to greet you - please wear yours. Also, please mask when you are in the halls and may encounter others less than 6 ft away. Guests can arrange to come down to breakfast at different times, since it is self serve. Mark or Judith will greet you arrive. (which is why we need to know your arrival time) If interested, they will tell you about the history of the house, the beautiful natural environment, the village of Lanesville, all kinds of recreational opportunities nearby, and of course all the restaurants, museums, and the historic harbor (oldest in the US) in downtown Gloucester. We will respect your space if you are here for a quiet retreat, or be available for questions if you would like to learn more about the unique history of the area. Judith's mother's family was one of the first to settle the nearby town of Rockport, and were pillars of the Gloucester fishing industry for centuries . Her father's family were Swedes that operated a boarding home in nearby Folly Cove for the Finlander granite cutters. We are open to sharing about the area if you let us know you are interested.
