Peace. Quiet. Comfort. Kisatchie Forest.
Magnolia Cabin provides a quiet retreat for individuals, couples or families. You will enjoy privacy on a lovely wooded property down a country road. The nearby Kisatchie Natl. Forest offers hikes, paddles, fishing and more. Fall asleep to the songs of frogs and crickets, or better yet, raindrops on the metal roof. Wake up to birdsong. Walk on property or down the lane. Or just sit.
Refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, BBQ pit, coffee pot and dishware. You'll find coffee and breakfast items. Or, we can recommend eateries nearby. Three can sleep downstairs, or climb to the loft for additional mattresses.
The cabin was built in 2006 and has accommodated happy guests ever since. It is made primarily of cypress from a south Louisiana design. We have added whimsical pieces from local artists.
There is a television with cable, board games and a small library. The cabin is powered primarily by solar power. It features full plumbing, air conditioning and heating.
The main house is a short walk away, so don't fear the wild. Azaleas, jasmine, dogwood, irises and magnolias are among the many seasonal blooms.
Beyond the house, the 5-acre property is mostly wooded and features walking trails with benches along the way. The quiet neighborhood roads also provide nice walks. The Wild Azalea Trail, Longleaf Vista, Valentine Lake and Kincaid Lake all provide wonderful hikes nearby. December through May our Kincaid eagles are on their nest, with eaglets by late January.
Cyclists also love our roads and trails.
Paddlers we find nearby Kincaid, Cotile and Valentine Lakes easy to access.
All summer long the sand beach at Kincaid Lake us open for swimming, just 10 minutes away.
Boaters, we can accommodate your boat and trailer during your stay. Kincaid and Cotile have easily accessible launches. No motorboats allowed on Valentine. The Kincaid eagles are also easy to observe by boat.
We have welcomed retreaters -- individuals or small groups seeking peace to pray, meditate, read, write or paint. Or just rest.
Our neighborhood is beautifully sculpted into the woods. Everyone is friendly -- just don't abuse anyone's privacy. Each property tends to be two or more acres, with wooded sections, so you know you are not just in a neighborhood, but in the woods.
The Kisatchie National Forest surrounds us. Access is just a short drive away. We can advise you, or visit the ranger station, one mile west on Highway 28.
We love our resident foxes, opossum, armadillo, rabbits and squirrels. They are all most active in the evening and night. Deer pass through occasionally. Birds and small creatures also abound. You might even find a bug or two in your cabin. Please don't fret. We'll handle whatever comes up.
