“Bánh Xèo ( Crispy Pancake) Similar to a crepe or pancake, banh xeo is made of rice flour, coconut milk, and turmeric, which you can fill it with vermicelli noodles, chicken, pork or beef slices, shrimps, sliced onions, beansprouts, and mushrooms. Most roadside stalls, local markets, and restaurants sell a platter of banh xeo for about VND 15,000 to VND 25,000, which usually comes with a side of fresh lettuce or rice papers. Eat like a local by wrapping your banh xeo in mustard leaf, lettuce leaves or rice papers together with nem lui (lemongrass pork skewers), mint leaves, basil, before dipping in fermented peanut sauce. Location: 18 Phan Bội Châu, Hoàn Kiếm Opening: 6:30-21:45”

“Opening hours: Friday – Sunday from 7PM-11PM It occupies some of the busiest streets found in the Old Quarter, including Hang Duong, Hang Ngang, and Hang Dao. The market is approximately 3 km in length, and it starts at the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc square and ends at the Dong Xuan market gate. Visitors are free to meander as they please, as the roads are blocked off to transportation. The market is free of commotion, as well, and visitors are instead greeted by locals conversing and music playing. The night market is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night from 8 p.m. and is open late. Hanoians have a tradition of meandering around the streets of the Old Quarter. Every weekend, the night market makes these same streets even livelier. The market attracts a large number of visitors, including both locals and tourists from around the world. Regardless of where they come from, all visitors attend in hopes of enjoying the easy-going vibe found here. There are a number of venues there for shopping as well as amazing street food. The night market of is surely a must-see attraction for anyone visiting the city. ”

“If Pho is Hanoi's number one dish, then Bun Cha is easily number two when it comes to being a Hanoi local food favorite. And who can blame the locals for loving this dish where grilled pork and rice noodles are the stars and fresh herbs, sliced papaya, red chilli and garlic are the supporting players? If these ingredient aren't enough for you, then add fried spring rolls called Nem to the mix”

“This is a uniquely Hanoian dish. The restaurant is family-owned and has been here forever. They only serve chả cá (turmeric, grilled fish) and have worked for generations to perfect the recipe. A must-try when you're in Hanoi.”

“Ta Hien Street, located in the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter, in the French colonial time called Géraud, is two-hundred-meter street, intersect with Hang Bac Street and Hang Buom Street. This street was named the “international crossroads” because there are many foreign tourists and has been included in the list of “places have to go in Hanoi” when traveling overseas of the foreigners. People reminds to it as a place for tourists to be able to feel the soul of Hanoi, which is simple and the intersection of the old and the new, of the East and the West. No one can deny that Ta Hien is a paradise on Earth for those with passion for street food. No matter what time you come to this place throughout the year, its incredible list of food always inspires you a lot. All things considered, do not hesitate to enter this wonderful street to explore very interesting stuff in the Vietnamese culture of street food. ”

“ Giang Cafe in Hanoi is famous for its egg coffee, which includes egg yolk, Vietnamese coffee powder, sweetened condensed milk, butter and cheese. The egg yolk is whisked up and put into the coffee, followed by the rest of the ingredients, and the drink is kept in hot water to maintain its temperature.”

“Xofa, from the English word ‘sofa’, epitomizes comfort. There are seating options that fit every possible need from comfortable desk chairs to squishy couches to makeshift beds (naps aren’t discouraged during the quiet midnight hours). The beautifully illustrated menu has a vast selection of food and drinks that are reasonably priced compared with other Hanoi cafe-restaurants in the same vein. And on the upstairs floors, hanging lights droop from the ceiling to create personalized and cozy spots for you to chat quietly with friends or fiddle around with your laptop. Even the music is blissfully perfect.”

“I don't really fancy Cong Cafe as there is nothing much about its drink menu. However, the Communist vibe in Cong Cafe shop is something you must try, especially if any story about communists attracts your attention. Another plus point is its availability, Cong cafe haves branches in almost all districts in Hanoi, very accessible. The two ones you are most likely to come across while wandering around Old Quarther are Nha Tho branch and Cau Go branch. Cong closed late at night, around 10:30-11:00 as I remember. Try and share with us your thought ;) ”
