Food scene
King Edwards bay is a small cove beach. It is overlooked by the castle priory.
On the beach is Riley's Fish Shack - one of my personal favorites.
The Shack offers fresh caught BBQ fish. The menu changes daily depending on the produce from the fish market that morning. Its not the cheapest place but worth every penny.

The North Shields Fish Quay is a 20 minute walk along the sea front and the banks of the river Tyne. The fish Quay has multiple fish markets selling direct form the fishing boats. In resent years the Quay has undergone a transformation with some wonderful bars and restaurants.
My two recommendations are Salty Sea Dog, offering Tapas & Lobo Rojo a taco restaurant.

Sightseeing
Long Sands is the long beach next to the apartment. It is an award winning beach, half of it is protected against dog walkers for part of the year.
The beach has two surf schools and restaurants at both ends rewarding a walk with a cold pint.

Alnwick castle is the home to some of Harry Potters early filming.
You can even book your self on your own broom stick ride. The castle, garden and town are well worth a visit
