Hours for Summer: Open Daily 10 to 4pm We have DAILY BOAT TOURS to take you out to meet our amazing DOLPHINS Our facility has a touch tank and marine exhibits to help all who visit understand how we can help save our precious species of the sea. Our boat is not a commercial tour but a tour of six or less for your experience of a lifetime. We have many rescue animals at the center and have found forever homes for hundreds.

You can see the entire South Padre Island from atop this historic lighthouse, first lit in 1853. A replica of the lighthouse keeper's cottage is on the grounds.

Here, the endangered ocelot silently hunts within the brushlands, white-tailed deer browse on a banquet of plants, aplomado falcons soar above the grasslands and nearly half of all the bird species found in the continental United States rest, feed, nest or migrate on this landscape.
The refuge was established in 1946 to provide habitat for wintering waterfowl and other migratory birds, principally redhead ducks. Today, there is an expanded emphasis that includes endangered species conservation and management for shorebirds. The refuge is a premiere bird-watching destination with more recorded species of birds than any other refuge in the National Wildlife Refuge System. The largest population in the United States of ocelots calls the refuge home, making it the center for conservation and recovery efforts for this endangered cat.
Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge encompasses more than 97, 000 acres, a portion of which are open to the public for wildlife related activities like wildlife watching, hunting, fishing, photography and environmental education.

Pirate's Landing Fishing Pier in Port Isabel, TX is located perfectly at the entrance to the Queen Isabella Causeway that leads to South Padre Island. You can't miss us... Just go to the Lighthouse in Port Isabel. Pirate's Pier is the longest pier in Texas. We take pride in keeping our grounds and facilities in immaculate condition. We have everything you need for a great fishing experience. You will find a complete tackle and bait shop, snack bar, clean restrooms, plenty of secure paved parking and a first class restaurant all in one place! Here on vacation and didn't bring any fishing equipment? We have rental poles, tackle and all types on baits including mullet, live and frozen shrimp, shiners, squid and more. Our store has ice, cold drinks, beer, wine, sandwiches and all kinds of snacks. In addition, Krispy Krunchy Chicken is available on-site if you get really hungry.

Joe’s Oyster Bar/Gulf Seafood market is proudly owned by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Castillo Sr. Joe Castillo Sr. was born and raised in Port Isabel TX. He was pone of 14 children and like many of his siblings, had to work from a very young age to help take care of his family. Joe’s first job was as a janitor at a local bakery making $5 a week. Joe then began working in the restaurant industry. He became a cook and a chef at the Sea Island Hotel on South Padre Island, TX. With an ambition to succeed, he worked hard to save money and in 1982, opened Gulf Seafood Market in Port Isabel, TX. Gulf Seafood sold fresh seafood daily and served hot to go plates for many years. In 2001, he added on to Gulf Seafood and officially opened Joes Oyster Bar. It had instant success. Joe’s Oyster Bar has been recognized year after year by Trip Advisor for their fresh seafood, delicious meals, and excellent service. Joe’s Oyster Bar is managed by Ricky Hernandez, who has been Joe’s right hand man for 33 years. In 2016, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Castillo Sr, along with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Castillo Jr. opened a second location of Joe’s Oyster Bar in Rosenberg, TX. The Rosenberg location, Joe’s Oyster Bar and Grill, has also been very successful.
