Sitting on the top of Cerro del Vigía and 75 meters above sea level, this building known as Observatorio was initially built by the people of Mazatlán as a military observation post, hence the name Cerro del Vigía. Due to its strategic location and complete dominance of the landscape, it served the city to protect it from the constant incursions of enemy ships, as well as ships dedicated to piracy. In 1873 he joined meteorological and seismological work, being one of the two most important in the country at the time of Porfirio Díaz.

Wonderful low key area with all the sun, sand, and beach you want. Nothing super lux or fancy but definitely worth the day trip. Easy to get to by bus and then about a 10 minute boat ride to the island. Go to Lety’s restaurant best family owned and clean spot to eat delicious food and spend all day at the beach.

According to many, Mazatlán isn't just about delicious food and scenic seaside vistas, but culture, too. Case in point: the Angela Peralta Theater, located in Old Mazatlán's Plaza Machado. It was named after a Mexican opera singer who died in a yellow fever epidemic that swept through the city in 1883. City residents are very proud of their 19th-century opera house, which was restored in the 1980s to host live performances. Visit now and it'll be hard to believe that this grand building was once abandoned, dilapidated and nearly torn down.

The Zona Dorada, or Golden Zone, features high-rise hotels, shops, restaurants and nightclubs, along with many of the city's best beaches in a 3-mile stretch.
You can stroll through the Golden Zone any time of day, though shops and restaurants have independent operating hours. Also know that when cruise ships are in town, this area can get quite busy as this is where many tours begin and end.

There are many beaches in Mazatlan that are loud with vendors hawking items at you so that it is challenging to relax. In Cerritos, there is a totally different vibe. You can read a book, write in a journal, chat with a friend, and the atmosphere is very chill and uncrowded.
