This café in a refurbished petrol station is one of Hobart’s favorite (and most bustling). The coffee is fantastic, as is the Chinese fried omelet. Great place to sit outside in the sun.

Hobart's best Malaysian. A tiny little family run restaurant with a very limited menu (usually only about 6-8 items) but everything is incredibly delicious and made by hand in their kitchen.

Suzie Luck’s offers some pretty good fusion Asian in Salamanca. Definitely in the top 5 Asian resturants in town. It’s a bit hit and miss – the really good dishes are amazing, but inevitably you get something a bit indifferent. That said, this is one of the best places to eat in Salamanca and I have paid too much to Uber eat it more than once.

Faro is Mona’s lovely and relaxed tapas restaurant and wine bar in their new Pharos wing. Boasting stunning views and expansive, glam design, this is a pretty lovely spot to settle in for a sunset rose and dinner after a day in the museum. Make sure you book in for the limited capacity James Turell artworks hosted in this wing. They’re mindblowing.

The Texas Pantry A little slice of cheesy, meaty, calorie laden American classics, The Texas Pantry features some seriously delicious, authentically southern food right where you’d least expect to find it. Go there for great Tex-Mex options, good smoked meats, delicious burgers and the best (and probably only) waffle fries in Tassie. A 10 minute drive or short bus ride from West Hobart.

A gorgeous spot to enjoy stunning D’Encastreaux Channel views and some delicious food. If you don’t have a car, there’s a ferry that runs out there and back so you don’t even need to nominate a designated driver. Kettering is a 40 minute drive from Hobart, and it’s also where you go to get the ferry to Bruny Island, so it’s a great stop on the way there or back.
