Sightseeing
Skanderbeg Square is the epicenter of the capital, surrounded by some of the most important buildings of the country. The space was initially designed in a circular shape by three architects of Mussolini’s Italy: Florentano de Fausto, Gherardo Bosio and Armando Brasini. It was in 1937 that the square was given the name of the Albanian national hero. Only two years ago, it was reconstructed to become a pedestrian space. The large square has the interesting shape of a slight pyramid that culminates in its very center. During the summers, water rushes down its sides to refresh the passers-by!
The Skanderbeg Square is in the centre of Tirana, Albania. The square is named after the Albanian national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu. The total area is about 40.000 square metres. The Skanderbeg Monument dominates the square.

Neighborhoods
Blloku is still the epicenter of Tirana but nowadays for a different reason. During the communist era it used to be the neighborhood where the dictator would live and all the communist elite. It would be prohibited to be even close by those streets, let alone to trespass them. While today it is the heartbeat of Tirana's nightlife and also the headquarters of many important companies. When the sun goes down, this is a place to hang out with people get some drinks!
