Pink’s Hot Dogs, Inc., a 77-year-old landmark hot dog stand located in Hollywood, serves over 2000 hot dogs and 200 hamburgers a day. Pink’s was started in 1939 by Richard’s parents, Paul and Betty Pink, with a pushcart they purchased for $50, which money they borrowed from Betty’s mother. The land on which the pushcart stood was leased by Paul and Betty for $15 per month. Hot dogs at that time were 10 cents and cokes were a nickel. Pink’s offered curb service, and was lucky to sell 100 hot dogs a day.
In 1941, the landlord raised their rent from $15 to $25 per month, a 67% increase, and Paul and Betty were forced to either give up or find a way to acquire the property. Paul and Betty, with

This is one of my favorite spots.
1970’s house-party themed spot that no one in their right mind could be bored at. After you walk through a refrigerator via a vintage garage sale, you’re delivered into a house, with a kitchen, a living room, and a backyard where sno-cones and tiki drinks are being served. There’s live music and, if you’re lucky, even a roller-skating show on the roof. If this is what the 1970’s were actually like, we missed our era.

Located in the basement of an apartment complex next door to their gigantic No Vacancy space, you can only access Dirty Laundry via a side stairwell and a nightly buzzer code you find on their social media. Welcome to the speakeasiest of all speakeasies. But guess what? It actually was a real speakeasy. And that means the space is small, subdued, and loaded with outstanding old-school cocktails. CAUTION: You’re in a basement and there’s no cell reception. You WILL have to talk to people.
