Songshan Cultural and Creative Park was once a tobacco factory in 1937 under the name Songshan Tobacco Plant of the Monopoly Bureau of the Taiwan Governor's Office. It is best known for its cigar, tobacco and liquor. The factory ceases the production in 1998, and in 2001 was designated to be one of Taipei’s the 99th historic site by Taipei City Government.

The combination of MOCA, Taipei and Jian Cheng Junior High School not only became the foremost example of having a museum and a school share one building, the site was also taken as an extension of the cultural-historical axis from Taipei Confucius Temple to Dalongdong Baoan Temple.
