David Pecquet, responsable du Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels Sensibles au Conseil général, explique : “Pendant plusieurs dizaines d'années, cet endroit a servi de carrière puis de terrain de moto-cross. Depuis 2006, nous l’avons réaménagé pour enrayer le mitage de la campagne et valoriser l’écrin naturel dans lequel il se trouve.”
Le site est ainsi redevenu l’un des plus riches domaines naturels d’Île-de-France: ses 115 hectares comprennent 435 espèces végétales, dont 50 plantes d'intérêt patrimonial.
