Delicious street inspired Thai food. My favourite is ordering a curry and a large coconut rice to share with one other person.

Sometimes it is hard to find authentic Latinx food in Vancouver, so we are lucky to have authentic Salvadorean cuisine just around the corner in a place that feels like you're walking into a corner shop for a quick bite in a small town outside San Salvador.

I come here for a craft beer and nachos. THE BEST NACHOS IN TOWN. My husband and I can barely finish a half-order. The vibe here is walking into your older sister's place... she's really into Heavy Metal and taxidermy.

Super affordable meals in a restaurant that serves latinx and Mediterranean cuisine. They have daily meal deals here during the week for under $10. They sometimes have live music but I have never gone on the weekend.

Lost Lagoon was given it's name due to a poem written by early century poet, Pauline Johnson aka Tekahionwake. This is a man made lake with swans that is often overlooked when people visit Stanley Park. It was not a lake when Pauline Johnson lived there but more of a swamp. It was filled when the road was built to connect Vancouver with Stanley Park on the East side from Georgia St. into the park in 1938. There were swans that occupied the lagoon until 2016 when they were relocated to a sanctuary.

The Fox Cabaret was Fox Cinema from 1983 to 2003, showcasing adult x-rated films. It is now the best place in Mount Pleasant to see a band perform, or dance during a themed dance night in their large venue with a bar and a photobooth! Be sure to check out their other bar upstairs called The Projection Room (the old projection room from its cinema days) with cozy seating and DJ nights throughout the week.

Sightseeing

Choose any spot on the trail for amazing views and catch the sunset on the western beaches in Kitsilano or the West End. https://vancouver.ca/files/cov/Seawall-Printable-Map3.pdf "Vancouver has the world's longest uninterrupted waterfront path. The 28 km Seaside Greenway is an uninterrupted pathway, including the Stanley Park Seawall, that extends from the Vancouver Convention Centre to Spanish Banks Park. Perfect for a walk, cycle, or jog, it is the most popular recreational spot in the city."

Near The Teahouse you will find the gravestone of the only person allowed to be buried in Stanley Park, my cousin, Pauline Johnson, a famous Canadian Poet of Haudenosaunee/English decent that travelled the world in the early 1900s and broke the boundaries of conventional expectations of not only women, but of Indigenous people. https://www.google.com/maps/@49.3016391,-123.1568469,21z

"The nine totem poles at Brockton Point are BC's most visited tourist attraction. The collection started at Lumberman's Arch in the 1920s, with four totems from Vancouver Island's Alert Bay. More purchased totems came from Haida Gwaii and the BC central coast Rivers Inlet, in 1936. In the mid 1960s, the totem poles were moved to Brockton Point. The Skedans Mortuary Pole is a replica as the original was returned home to Haida Gwaii. In the late 1980s, the remaining totem poles were replaced. The ninth totem pole was placed in 2009, carved by Robert Yelton of the Squamish Nation."

A beautiful place to take photos during sunset. "Siwash Rock is a 32 million-year-old sea stack (rock outcropping) located just off the seawall between Third Beach and Lions Gate Bridge in Stanley Park. According to Squamish first nations legend, a man was transformed into Siwash Rock "as an indestructible monument to Clean Fatherhood" – a reward for unselfishness. A lookout above Siwash Rock is accessible from Park Drive or Siwash Rock Trail leading from Prospect Point and Third Beach."

"The Stanley Park Hollow Tree, a 700- to 800-year-old Western Red Cedar tree stump is one of the most well-known and photographed landmarks in the park. Historic photographs show people, cars, and even an elephant posing inside the tree's large cavity. It was badly damaged by the severe windstorm in December 2006 and was slated for removal due to safety concerns. However, in 2009 concerned citizens formed the Stanley Park Hollow Tree Conservation Society and stepped forward with a plan to stabilize the tree in a project funded entirely by private donations. Following a public ceremony in October 2011, the restored Hollow Tree began a new chapter in its long history in Stanley Park."

From this point you can get an unbelievably beautiful view of the city and the North Shore Mountains. The Nine O'Clock Gun, itself, booms at 9pm (21:00) every day, and has done so for over 100 years.
