This is a xeriscape demonstration garden that is open to the public. It is located about 5 minutes from the house and one can tour the entire garden in thirty minutes. Definitely worth visiting if you are interested in learning about native plants and water conservation.

A very steep challenging hike following an old cog railroad bed up the side of the mountain. It's best to go early in the morning. There is a free parking lot with a free shuttle that will take you to the base of the trail. At the top there is a trail that returns to the base of the mountain.
