Excellent thin crust pizza. They are HUGE! Sold by the slice, too, which is fast and tasty. Very nice salad bar, beer and wine, too. Great to hang out, and everyone does. There's a piano and couch seating up in the front.
Also -- Next door to, and owned by Messenger Pizza, Savage Bakery is the newest place in downtown. Great coffee, house-baked goods, breakfast and lunch.

This is THE place to go after a visit to Celebration Park! You'll be lucky if Beth is cooking. She is GOOD. Limited menu, full bar I think, pool tables, and TVs set on DIY channels, I think. You'll end up watching some random program while you wait. Everyone stops by for a burger and fries. You'll see workmen at lunchtime, old guys meeting to shoot pool, families passing through. I've never been in the evening but the bar will be busier I suppose. Melba is a tiny town that grows to 10,000 or more for their annual 4th of July parade and outrageous fireworks display.

Everything Else
We joined the Elks Lodge because it is right next door to our home -- we share a wall with them! Everyone is SO nice, the lodge does many things to help the community, the drinks are a bargain, and there's dinner about twice a week. You do need to be a member--or come in with a member--to be admitted. If you'd like to visit our lodge, please tell us--we would be happy to bring you in, introduce you to our friends, and show you our lodge. It's a great place!

Amanda and Kate have a lovely massage therapy studio in downtown Nampa. Look for a discount postcard in the downstairs living room! Amanda is the clubhouse Garden Master. You might meet her in the garden during your stay.

PreFunk is a craft beer tap bar with an excellent selection. Big patio where you can run into just about anyone in town! Fabulous owners and staff. They also serve ciders, kombucha, and wine and bubbly. You can bring food in from anywhere, but Messenger is the most convenient. I think Messenger will even deliver! Open on Sundays and some holidays too. We love this place!

Parks & Nature
This is our favorite outdoorsy place in the area. There are around 5,000 petroglyphs in the park. Plus hiking trails, fishing, boat ramp, camping sites, an awesome little museum with rotating exhibits, a cool old train bridge from the 1800s. If you go while the park is open, the rangers will tell you about everything, and let you try your hand at throwing ancient spear-weapons called atlatls (just saying it is fun!).
The first Thanksgiving we were here, most of the kids came up to see us, and we spent Black Friday at Celebration Park instead of shopping. A new tradition.

The greenbelt is one of the best things about Boise! It's 25 miles of bicycle path right along the beautiful Boise River. Be careful out there during commute times--it's well-used and people are in a hurry!

Our Mattie the Cat was found with two siblings when she was a teeny kitten, right there at Wilson Pond. Also, it was the first place my grandkids got to go fishing! There is a trail network that connects to the ponds, that cuts diagonally through Nampa.

We think this is the prettiest building in town! The museum is full of old stuff to look at, heavy on train memorabilia. It has limited hours, so check first. But at least go by and admire the front! It is right downtown.

Open 7 a.m. until 11:00 pm daily.

WinCo is awesome! Great prices, pretty good selection. Employee-owned. Amazing selection of bulk bin items. It's right off the I-84 on the way to the clubhouse. Oh, and it's open 24 hours/day.

If you are a Costo member, you will LOVE our Costo! All the usual things (well, except for hard liquor), and you can almost ALWAYS park in the first two rows--it's a world apart from, say, West LA's Costco (shudder).
