Old Washington is an Arkansas historic site (I-30 Hope exit). During the Civil War, the state capital was moved here. The blacksmith shop is the creative site of the first Bowie knife. One of the South's largest Magnolia tress is located here. Stop in the old courthouse to visit an impressive historical museum. Have lunch in the little restaurant. Enjoy the period costumes, the 1800s architecture and stroll through the past. There are other hidden gems including churches, cemeteries and an amazing self-guided tour.
