The City Hall is without doubt the single most representative building of Sarajevo. In addition to its many valuable monuments. The project was overseen by Alexander Wittek who had propise his Pseudo Moorish design- the prefect architectural unity of East and West - for the future seat of the city's goverment. Since it first opened on April 20,1896, the building has become the most important symbol of Sarajevo and is featured as an iconic motif in many photographs of the city. After World War II , Vijećnica became home to the National and University Library of BiH. On the nights of August 25-26, 1992 during the last war, Vijećnica was set ablaze . Nearly 90% of the library's collection went up in flames and the building became a symbol of the Siege and tragedy of Sarsjevo. Vijećnica's reconstruction got underway in 1996 and the official opening took place on May 9,2014, the same day that Europe Day and the Day of Victory over Fascism are observed.

The master builder of this mosque in 1530 was the Empire's Master Builder (mimar) Adžem Esir Ali, a Persian from Tabriz , who came from the distinguished school of the master builder Hajredin. The minaret is 47 meters in height with a massive cross-secton. Magnificent stalactite ornamentation in the angles under the dome and in the place where the Imam leads the prayers, as well as other polychromatic decoration ,valuable carpets and the light effects through the 51 windows produces a sense of greater space than there is in reality. At every time of prayer in this mosque ,the great benefactor Gazi Husrev -Bey is remembered. In his legacy, he stated : "Good deeds drive away evil , and one of the most worthy of good deeds is the act of charity ,and the most worthy act of charity is one which lasts forever. Of all charitable deeds , the most beautiful is the one that continualy renews itself". This passage give us an indication of how far-sighted this benefactor was. He transformed all that he had into an endowment and according to legend ,stripped himself of everything but his shirt and underwear. In the protected area just outside the mosque itself ,there are domed turbe ( burial sites ) of Gazi Husrev - Bey and of the administrator of his endowments,Murat - Bey Tardic. This area also houses the metke b (Muslim primary school) , the abdesthana ( room for ablution),the chronometrical station and the once- prestigious Gazi Husrev - Bey library.

According to the records itnwas built in 1539. By it's shape this church didnt then, nor with its later reconstruction, belong to the standardized medieval architecture of the Serbian Byzantine churches. This fact serves to dispute the legends and stories that Prince Andrija , the brother of the Ottoman vassal, Prince Marko ,had built this church by the end of 14th century.

In its style the cathedral belongs to early Gothic (13th century) with a minimal facade decoration. It was under construction from 1884 until 1889. A significant spatial value is possessed by the square of fra Grga Martić in front of the cathedral ,since it is the only proper European square in Sarajevo.

Baščaršija is Sarajevo's old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city. Baščarsija was built in the 15th century when Isa-Beg Isaković founded town. The word Baščaršija drives from the Turkish language . The word "baš" which is "baş" in Turkish literally means "head" , in some context however also "primary" , "main" , "capital" and "čaršija" which is "çarşi" in Turkish means "bazaar" or "market" . Due to the large fire in the 19th century ,today Baščaršija is half the size that it once was.

A ledger from 1541 makes the first mention of a bridge located on the spot where the Latin Bridge is found today, stating that it was built by one sarač (leather worker) named Husein, the son of Širmed. One can conclude from a later document that this initial wooden bridge way soon destroyed and a stone bridge way builtin its place by Ali Ajni Bey, a prominent Sarajevan. This stone bridge was later washed away by a great flood in 1791, but in 1798 a wealthy trader from Sarajevo , Abdulah Briga , donated funds for the construction of the Latin Bridge that can be seen today. The bridge took its name from the neighborhood on the left bank of the Miljacka , where Sarajevo's Catholics resided. From 1918 to 1993 the structure bore the name , Principov Most (bridge) , after Gavrilo Princip ,who was only a few meters from this bridge when he assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife , Sofie. This incident , known as the Sarajevo Assasination, led to the beginning of the First World War.
