Sightseeing

Things to do on Sheppey itself.
Visit Leysdown with its sandy beaches and promenade full of cafes, icecream and donughts. Step back in time with the store fronts and penny arcades. Walk up to Shellness beach (with naturist beach) up the road, pure sandy beach with lovely long coastal walks through Shellness with foot paths right through to Harty with views of Whitstable and Faversham

Minster and Sheerness Beach Sheppey Sailing Club and Windsurfing Clubs run from these beaches and sometimes offer courses and lessons. The Beach itself stretches for over 2 miles between Sheerness and Minster, it is a shingle, blue flag beach, with lifeguards at both Sheerness and Minster in peak season. Lovely grassy area all along the Leas, with exercise equipment and telescopes along the promenade to look at the ships. Beautiful scenery and views across to Southend. Take a walk from one end of Minster Cliffs by the quaint Beach Huts all the way to Garrison Point near the docks in Sheerness. Small seasonal cafes and tea shops available on route from the Little Oyster and The Beach pub at Minster Cliffs end, via The Sweet Shop tea bar along the beach front itself, The Playa pub offering good food and meals, right down to small ice cream kiosks and amusement arcades in Sheerness. You can also go off the beach and stop off at Bartons Point Coastal Park, with a café and small lake with crabbing and water activities.

Elmley Nature Reserve has featured lots of times on programmes like Country File, the Elmley Marshes have also been the back drop to a number of TV dramas and films. Lovely for an escape to nature with access to lots of bird and nature watching. Elmley nature reserve are also a wedding venue and the Annex makes a great location for a stop over if attending one as it's only about 2 miles up the road.
