Food for the Soul!
Fresh in season grocery items, home preserves like grandma made, a wonderful cafe with freshly baked goods, a huge garden that you can pick things for yourself, plus it’s almost like a petting zoo, with all sorts of small animals. (Open in summer only.)
Great place to visit and pick up super fresh veggies and fruit in season. Pick yourself, or purchase what’s already been picked and available in their little country store, where you’ll also find homemade baking, preserves, fresh organic honey, farm eggs, etc. Plan to sit in the beautiful out doors and enjoy a freshly baked muffin or pie and ice cream, with a rich cup of coffee, or an ice cream cone. You will see all sorts of animals, and even be able to feed some of them. We love this place so much!
Happy Acres U-Pick

Recreation/Nature Sightseeing
Places in the area that we like to go to walk, jog, picnic, skate, explore the great out doors, and generally clear the cobwebs from our minds. We think you’ll like them too! :)
This little lake is just a few minutes away and has a nice walking trail along the edge, connecting with a 1km walking/jogging trail cut through the forest. If you’d like to get out and stretch your legs, without going too far, this is the place. It has a small sandy beach and play area, but I wouldn’t recommend swimming in the water. There is a large dock you can walk out on and watch all sorts of birds come and go from the small island in the middle of the lake. There’s also nice, treed picnic areas with large open areas for kicking a ball or playing some badminton, and free wood is provided for your camp fires.
Hasse Lake

The 480 acres of woodland and over 14 km of trails are a popular destination for hikers, cyclists and horseback riders in summer and are groomed for cross country skiers in winter (there’s a warm-up chalet). We LOVE this place. Beginner, moderate and advanced trails.

A hidden gem just a couple minutes away! A lovely day use area with fire pits and a trail that leads along a beautiful clear river. Nice for wading and fun for the kids to float around on tubes. Water shoes suggested.

Clifford E. Lee Nature Sanctuary
Sanctuary RoadA 20 minute drive N/W of Mom’s Place, Wabamun Lake Provincial Park has the best beach in the area, with a huge field for the kids to run and play, a lovely play ground, and lots of picnic areas. Located a little further drive west of the provincial park is the town of Wabamun, with a great spray park, large boat dock, lots of water sports rentals, ice cream places and a grocery store.

Located a little further drive west of the provincial park is the town of Wabamun, with a great spray park, large boat dock, lots of water sports rentals, ice cream places and a grocery store.
A lovely nearby hamlet with a well maintained outdoor skating rink. Feel like you've skated right into a Hallmark movie. ;)

Being a five minute drive north, Mink Lake is our closest “corner store” and gas station. Not much for fresh groceries, but mostly snacks and basic items like milk, ice cream, eggs, etc. It also has a small selection of liquor.

Stony Plain is 15 minutes from here and a lovely town to explore. It’s known as “The Town With The Painted Past”, as there are beautiful murals all over town, depicting the history of the town. There’s a wonderful little park called Rotary Park / Dog Rump Creek, where you can walk or picnic in the summer and enjoy picturesque skating in the winter, lit up beautifully. There are endless little shops and museums to explore and cafe’s and restaurants to enjoy. Also the closest full sized grocery stores; Safeways, Freson Bros. and Co-op.
