MacRitchie Reservoir - The largest reservoir in Singapore, completed in 1868. The main attraction of the reserve is the TreeTop Walk from the suspended bridge, which is open from 9am to 5pm, Tuesday to Sunday (closes on Mondays). Free Admission.
Getting there: The Reservoir is our neighbour. We can just walk to it by using a shortcut footpath via the back gate of Mt Alvernia Hospital, directly opposite Blk 10E of Braddell View @ Marymount Road.

Honoured as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit to the Gardens is free except for the National Orchid Garden. If you are a classical music lover, there are weekend performances at the Stage between 6pm and 9.30pm. Free Admission. Smoke Free Park. Prepare to go early with a mat to sit, as the place is often packed when there is a performance.
Getting there: From my house, walk to Caldecott Station by a special footpath (lighted at night) located at Blk 10P. Take the train (Circle Line) towards Harbour Front. Just one stop away is Botanic Gardens.

Cheaper to buy a bundle ticket with 2 or more combinations of the attractions - only available at the Gardens Ticket Counters. The ticket includes free shuttle bus rides.
Getting there: From Braddell, take train to Marina Bay. Transfer to Circle Line to Bayfront. Take shuttle bus to the Gardens.

Great place to visit, as the River Safari is another attraction next to it. There are many fishes to see in the River Safari, Monster fish which you may not see before. There is also boat ride.
Getting there: From Braddell, take the North South Line towards Jurong East. Alight at Khatip (just 4 stops away) and take the Shuttle Bus to the Zoo.
Alternate Way - From Braddell, take train towards Jurong East. Alight at Ang Moh Kio. Take bus 138 at Bus Interchange to the Zoo.
