Very local ! I totally would recommend to those who are not massive snobs, but cool !!!!!!

This is one of the coolest bars I've ever been to. The bartender is friendly and speaks some English. This bar is like a secret spot, which has been operating since July 2016 without any signage. The interior has an understated antique feeling, and is perfect for couples or if you just prefer to have a quiet time at the bar. In addition to hosting live music and DJ sets, the bar also attracts numerous musicians and music lovers.

Definitely a great first dinner in Kyoto. Music playlist is an A+ as they play smooth jazz which pares very well with their special dinner. The chef curates your meal magnificently to fit your palette and desires. Definitely try the set meal which will include fresh daily fish from the Market to small bites prepared authentically but with a modern twist. I also would highly recommend the rice pilaf served with ikura which can be best described like an Asian style risotto but even better. Do ask the chef for daily specials as we had the opportunity to try one-of-a-kind matsutake mushrooms! These mushrooms are rare to find and so can be a bit pricey, but they are so delicious. Perfect!

I love Soba, but I feel it’s hard explain how delicious Soba is, earthy? nutty? Who said that? Anyway, it’s easy to understand how udon is, because of it’s chewy texture while ramen is based on soup. The smell of soba is not strong and gives you the feeling of either tea or hot water going down your throat. However, I have no right to say whether or not soba is delicious just by the feeling of drink going down your throat. I wonder if it’s possible for foreigners to understand soba’s taste.

If you want to have Excellent Japanese BBQ. Must try this! The meat is so well seasoned, there's no need for any sauce. Not extremely cheap but definitely worth the price.

Probably the best of my favorite Starbucks in Japan. I absolutely love the music selection which really makes a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. It has wonderful views a beautiful, centuries old temple which has blooming Cherry Blossoms around it. After you have your Starbucks, take the time to walk around the temple grounds. You won’t be disappointed. As usual, Japanese customer service is second to non at this Starbucks.

Do you know Japanese enjoys having burgers without the bread? If you usually don’t condone burgers without the bread. Why don’t you try to do that once? I assume this place would make it work. Excellent!

I always tend to miss some Japanese food when I am traveling in overseas. If you miss western breakfast during a long trip, but still want to feel a bit some Japanese. I assume this café is good for you. It sells bakery items, made-to-order salads/sandwiches, coffee, tea and the usual staples of a café. It offers breakfast and brunch sets an affordable price( generally starting under 1000 yen). Food is always fresh. It’s located in the basement of laque building and near “exit 24” of Shijo subway.

If you have tattoo but you would like to go to Sento. You can go there. When I went the Sento for the first time. I asked the owner “If I came here with my friend who has tattoo. He would be able to enter here?” He said presently “Sure. It’s impossible to remove anything after drawing, right?” I said it in my head “I’m so sorry. It was my mistake that I asked you.” Anyway the temperature of the bath is so hot. Please be careful!

If you are nuts about Ramen, just go. They don't serve any alcoholic drinks, just focus on their ramen.

Art & Culture

Minamiza Theatre is one of the earliest of the seven officially licensed Kabuki theatres built in the early Edo period and continues to present Kabuki across over 400 years of history. It is hard not to spot this beautiful building in the Gion district. Known as Kyoto's most famous kabuki theatre, each play are a medley of acts from various well-known kabuki plays. The plays are of course in Japanese, but you will receive a small English breakdown of each act. If you want a great experience and a taste of culture, this place is a must!

This is an antique shop hidden in Kyoto's Gion district. After searching for this place and getting lost for more than 10 minutes, I stumbled upon this gem and stayed what felt like an eternity browsing a huge range of items in a crammed little space. There is a huge range of items such as vintage kimono, obi belts (perfect for souvenir!) postcards, black and white photographs as well as other vintage articles you can't find elsewhere. The owner is a friendly guy who collects strange antiques all over Japan and various antiques arrive every week. Just be mindful of the time since you can spend hours here!

There are many bars and restaurant along this road. A lovely part of Kyoto that's not to be missed. It is not much to look at during the day but at night, the narrow lanes are transformed into a magical place. I would suggest looking at all options before settling for a restaurant They all vary in food menu and prices. The narrow lanes are really atmospheric and who knows if you're lucky, you might spot a geisha or two!

Nijo Castle (二条城, Nijōjō) was built in 1603 as the Kyoto residence of the first Shogun of the Edo Period. Nijo Castle was used as an imperial palace after the fall of the Tokugawa Shogunate in 1867. The castle was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Outside of the Ninomaru Palace extends the Ninomaru Garden, a traditional Japanese landscape garden with a large pond, ornamental stones and manicured pine trees. it is extremely beautiful during the cherry blossom season. It is no doubt Kyoto's most popular and impressive sights
