Sightseeing

Start the day off with a hike at the highest waterfall in New York. Yes taller than Niagara’s. Hike to Inspiration Point and then down to the falls. Around 3.5 miles. I like to cap it off with lunch at the Woodstock Brewery on Rt 28

For those seeking outdoor adventure, the hike at Overlook Mountain is not to be missed. The trailhead is about ten minutes from town, and its loop takes about three hours round-trip, which includes some time at the top for sight-seeing. At the top, there are multiple overlooks of the mountains, including a fire tower with 360º views—as well as hotel ruins from the early 1930’s. A gravel path makes the hike considerably easier to do year-round than others in the area, though be warned, it’s length and climb are a turnoff for many. (Still, 100% #worthit)

Tube the Esopus river. Start at Shandaken by the water release and Roccos Steak House and end in Phoenicia. You will have to park a car at each location. 2-3 hour trip. Could be cold on a cloudy day. Cooler not needed just tie a plastic bag with drinks to the tube. Lots of fun!!!

What better way to cap off your trip upstate!! On the way home stop for brunch or dinner at the Kingston waterfront. Fringing the Rondout Creek and the Hudson River that it feeds, Kingston’s waterfront area exudes a relaxed, maritime feel. Here in Downtown, also dubbed “the Rondout” or “the Strand,” a walkable stretch of eateries, galleries, and boutiques comes clustered along Broadway and West Strand
