The industrial space of Cooks & Soldiers is trendy but comfortable- upscale but not pretentious. A true Basque restaurant (in Atlanta!,) expect meats and fish grilled over hot coals, tuna and lamb stews, cod, Spanish bean dishes, paprikas from Lekeitio, pintxos (Basque tapas), Idiazabal sheep's cheese, txakoli sparkling wine, and Basque cider. Dishes are almost too gorgeous to eat, but indulge, you must! The name Cooks & Soldiers is inspired by the annual Tamborrada festival of San Sebastian in January, when the entire city is awash with the sound of drums as the adults, dressed as cooks and soldiers, march in different companies across various parts of the city. Recommended for Romantic Dining because: Shareable plates, unmatched food and superior service will make a romantic night on the town. Expert tip: The menu can be intimidating, but don't hesitate to quiz your server. They are knowledgeable about the menu, about where the food comes from, the farmers, the wineries.

Canoe has been pleasing guests with its upscale southern cuisine for decades. What's more peaceful than enjoying a relaxing brunch while overlooking the Chattahoochee? Canoe is a top choice for romantic interludes- elegant but not stuffy. For the mot romantic seating, request a table overlooking the river. You'll be tempted to fill up on the scones and biscuits, but don't. There are so many delectable appetizers and entrees, you'll need to save your appetite. Most patrons enjoy starting off their meal with the she-crab soup or smoked salmon on potato pancake. Don't miss the garden out back during the spring; it's a wonderful place to steal a kiss. Recommended for Romantic Dining because: A romantic setting on the Chattahoochee, delicious fare and a gorgeous garden make this classic restaurant Atlanta's most romantic. Expert tip: Reservations are a must at this upscale spot.

This blue-domed rotating restaurant and bar sits perched atop the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. The first rooftop restaurant in the city, it originally opened in 1967, then closed for a decade in the early 2000s. Recently reopened in summer 2014, the space now boasts a re-envisioned interior that's sleek and handsome. Full of large windows, you'll scope out breathtaking views of the city below. The menu is full of shareable small plates inspired by local, seasonal ingredients (including several grown on the restaurant's rooftop). Though you don't need to make dinner out of it in order for it to feel special. Having a cocktail at Polaris just might be the perfect end to a romantic date night.

Adjacent to Atlanta’s verdant Piedmont Park, it’s easy to see why this 30-acre oasis in the heart of Midtown welcomes more than half a million visitors each year. In 2010 it nearly doubled its size when it opened the Canopy Walk, a 600-foot walkway suspended in the trees. Guests can visit the steamy orchid house, walk through the edible garden of native plants (though they are edible, resist the temptation!), and stop for an upscale meal at Longleaf, one of the few restaurants in the world to be housed in a botanical garden. In addition to being a serene place for a stroll, ABG leads a number of nationally recognized conservation efforts, including the Orchid Conservation Institute, the Conservation Greenhouse for endangered plants, and a program to save rare frogs, so there’s an educational element here too.

One of Atlanta's best museums, the Atlanta History Center was originally founded in 1926 by a group of Atlantans dedicated to, well, preserving their city's history. The Center, as we know it today, came to fruition in the 1990s as a way of highlighting the political and cultural history of Atlanta and the surrounding region. Unsurprisingly, there's an impressive collection of Civil War art and artifacts here (including Cyclorama: The Big Picture, a painting that measures 49-feet tall by 371-feet long), along with written commentary on the Native American history of Georgia and lighter, more pop-culture-adjacent topics like Folk Art. The 33-acre campus of historic homes, exhibitions, and archives is unto itself a treat, especially the epic Swan House, former home to one of the wealthiest families in Georgia.
