Landmannalaugar is a wonderland of natural beauty that you do not want to miss! It is located in the South Highlands of Iceland and is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, geothermal baths, and hiking trails, most notably the Laugavegur Trek.
Along with the rich vegetation and natural hot springs, the area is known for its spectacular rock formations, multicolored rhyolite mountains, and rambling lava fields. The two most famous volcanoes in the area are the Blahnjukur ("Blue Peak") and the Brennisteinsalda ("Sulphur wave"), appreciated for their vibrant and unique coloration.

Thjófafoss is a waterfall on the Þjórsá river, located just south of Mount Burfell on the edge of the Merkurhraun lava fields.
Meaning “thieves falls”, this waterfall received its name from the Icelandic legend of thieves being drowned here for their crimes.
Thjófafoss can be found just off Road 32, a short drive from Hekla Holiday Home. Its changing colors and the views of Mount Burfell rising in the background make it a beautiful place to take pictures and enjoy the scenery.
Þjófafoss
Thjófafoss is a waterfall on the Þjórsá river, located just south of Mount Burfell on the edge of the Merkurhraun lava fields.

Both waterfalls come from branches of the Fossá river and join the Þjórsá, the longest river in Iceland. These waterfalls are especially impressive during the Spring and early Summer months; during this time the snowmelt that feeds the Fossá reaches its greatest volume, and the waterfalls cascade into the canyon with a roaring intensity that echoes off the canyon walls.
