Great lunch spot

Who doesn't love cider - great varieties to choose from (I love the Raspberry Pear but it is a strong one so drivers be ware) There is an interesting history museum onsite. Frank's often have live music afternoons, comedy nights and art exhibitions nearby.

Amazing cider, great outdoor space, great cafe (Apple Pie is to die for). Live music on Friday nights until 9pm and a Saturday morning market every week. All in and around an old apple shed.

History lovers must do

Take a tour of the boat building school, learn the history of boat building on the Huon River, talk with the builders or simply visit the giftshop area and breath in the fragrance of the Huon Pine!

Sightseeing

A lovely scenic drive as an alternative route to Cygnet. Turn right onto C639 at Cradoc on the B68. There are some unsealed sections of the road but some lovely bays to stop and take some photos - worth the trip.

City/town information

The business/shopping centre of the Huon Valley. Great cafes and restaurants open for lunch or dinner. A lovely walk along the foreshore and along Skinners Track (accessed from the Channel Highway just past the BBQ shelter and across the road) Enjoy a jet boat ride upriver or have fun in a paddle boat.

Beautiful historic township (first town settled in the area). Wander along the foreshore walk or the street to admire the beautiful scenery and historic buildings. Enjoy a meal in the Hotel or one of the cafes/restaurants or simply take a picnic to enjoy by the river. There's a great kids playground at the southern end of the township.

Beautiful, quirky country town! Art galleries, cafes, giftshops, a great market on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month and lovely walks around the Port Cygnet Bay - can easily spend the best part of a day here.

Take a drive to Cockle Creek ( the southernmost point your can drive to in Australia) and then walk across to the stunning, windswept South Cape Bay (approximately 4 hours return - moderate rating). A short 510 minute return walk to the Bronze Whale Sculpture is a great one with small children or anyone really. You must hold a National Parks Pass one you cross the bridge at Cockle Creek. Great Beaches for a swim too!
