Neighborhoods

Lexington Drive lives like a cul-de-sac with little to no cut through traffic. The quiet tree-lined streets are typically filled with neighbors walking or riding bikes to the local park, schools, one of the two markets or the popular Café Zoe, which serves as the neighborhood hub. It is common for neighbors here to coordinate drop-in outdoor gatherings (socially distanced of course), welcoming all who want to join. Pre-COVID, The Willows Market (on Middlefield Road) hosts a variety of events including Food Truck night and weekly wine and beer tasting events. Café Zoe serves coffee, lunch and ice cream, but also showcases local artists’ work on the walls and hosts live music and other community events. Mardini’s Café, on the corner of Gilbert and Middlefield, is run by a friendly family who welcomes you in the door, is kid-friendly and is a popular place to meet neighbors for dinner. In The Willows, you benefit from the proximity to downtown Palo Alto, but enjoy the feel of a small town where kids play in front yards and you can sit on your front porch and greet your neighbors as they stroll by on their nightly walks. The Willows has easy access to highway 101 and the Facebook campus. This is a special opportunity to stay a home in a prime location in the Willows.

Downtown Palo Alto is very close, you can walk there in 15minutes. It’s good for restaurants, cafés, and going for a walk.

If you feel like some IceCream Salt & Straw is your place. It has some “original” flavours, but I prefer the someone more traditional “Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough”. Top tip: order online! Even if you are right in front of the door, as long as there’s a line it’s worth ordering online as it will be much faster…

Blue bottle is a Bay Area favourite for coffee. I also like the (exorbitantly priced - like most things in the Bay Area) avocado toast! What’s great about the location in Palo Alto down town is the outdoor seating. It’s a very pleasant place to relaxing, and almost feels like being in Spain because of the beautiful architecture in the courtyard.

Local supermarket

The Willows Market is a great local supermarket, that has most everything you will need during your stay. Plus it's a 5 minute walk from the house!
