The easy way up the Mountain! This has been described as one of the most scenic railway journeys in the World - the scenery really is breathtaking. Works are being carried out on the last section of the track and so the train only takes you up to Clogwyn station which is 3/4 of the way up to the summit. The train leaves from Llanberis which is approx 45 minutes drive from here. Pre booking is advised (essential in the summer months) and remember it is always a good few degrees cooler on the top of Snowdon so take some layers a good foot wear.

Betws-y-Coed is a beautiful, vibrant village and is known as the the gateway to Snowdonia. This magical setting has a distinctly Alpine feel enhanced by the dense Gwydyr Forest surrounding it. Known as "The Ugly House" but it is anything but Ugly - it's gorgeous and it sells the best cream tea ever! According to legend the house was built in the 15th century overnight – a 'tŷ unnos' or 'one night house'. The tradition at that time meant that a house built during one night on common land, with a chimney smoking by dawn, could be claimed by the builders as their own property. The Ugly house is just a short drive from Betws y Coed or a lovely walk along the river. One of my favorite places for Lunch

Tu-Hwnt-I'r Bont is a fantastic for a morning coffee, a fab lunch or an exquisite afternoon Tea (the scones are to die for). It was built in 1480 and is the quaintest little building with tea room down stairs and a small gallery up stairs. Check the website for opening hours between October and March as it regularly gets flooded in the winter months - they don't build rm like they used to! It is located in Llanwrst approx 30 mins drive from here, a great stop on the way to Betws y Coed

City/town information

The beautiful Victorian town of Llandudno is only a short walk from the site. Llandudno is a very popular Welsh Seaside Resort and is known as "The Queen of Welsh Resorts" It lies between two headlands, the Little Orme and the Great Orme. It has two lovely beaches, the North Shore with it's Victorian Promenade and Pier and the quiet, sandy West Shore. The town is unique in that it has maintained it's Victorian and Edwardian elegance and splendor despite its modern attractions. There are lots of great pubs, restaurants, shops, museum, gallery and a theatre in the town.
