Hiking? Ticks and Lyme Disease Alert!
Use 'Deep Woods Insect Repellent' when you go hiking!
Please be sure to apply the insect repellent to your shoes, bottom of your pants, shirt sleeves and hat.
Always wear a hat, and if you have long hair, tuck it in!
There is no need to be nervous about Lyme Disease as long as you take precautions.
When you get in change your clothes, even shower...and check for ticks!
Also, if you have a pet with you, check for ticks!

I found a tick! What do I do now?
If you find a tick anywhere on your body, make note of where you find it. If it is under your skin, there is a special technique for removing it. Please see the the other note about removing a tick.
After you have removed the tick, KEEP IT! You may want need it!
Watch the bite location for inflammation or other signs of an infection which could include a bullseye type rash.
If you get a rash or reaction to the bite, please see a doctor. If you need to see the doctor, take the saved tick with you.

How to remove a tick from a person or pet.
Use clean, fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin's surface as possible. Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Don't twist or jerk the tick; this can cause the mouth-parts to break off and remain in the skin. If this happens, remove the mouth-parts with tweezers. I can provide tweezers if you need them.
