Pearce, AZ is a mining ghost town named for Cornishman James Pearce, miner and cattleman, who discovered gold nearby at what became the Commonwealth Mine in 1894. There are a number of historic structures still extant in and around Pearce, some still in use and others in ruins.

Beautiful rock formations, scenic drive, great hiking, wildlife viewing, and birding. The Chiricahua Mountains have animals and birds that are found no where else in the United States.

In the 1860's Cochise, the charismatic leader of the Chiricahua Apache, adopted the rugged canyons that cross the midsection of the Dragoon Mountains as a refuge for himself and his people. This natural fortress became know as Cochise Stronthold.

City/town information
Tombstone, Arizona, is the most historic town of the Old West, where Wyatt Earp and the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral became the west's most famous legend. Visitors can stand at the exact site where the gunfight took place. Many of the Tombstone's original landmarks had fallen into disrepair or ruin, and have been rebuilt or restored. The main street's storefronts and boardwalks recreate an 1881 feeling. Gunfight re-enactments take place during the day.
The Boothill Graveyard has been restored, with the grave markers still maintaining their original colorful epitaphs of yesteryear. The Tombstone Court House has been restored to its 1903 version. Be sure to check out the gallows in the courtyard. One of the best attractions is the amazing Bird Cage Theater which is entirely original, as are all of its contents. When the gold and silver gave out in Tombstone, the nearby city of Bisbee became the center of activity with its immense Copper Queen Lode. Besides copper, the mines of Bisbee produced gold, lead, silver, and zinc. Most of the mines are now closed, and Bisbee has attracted numerous artists and artisians. The historic downtown area features numerous art galleries; specialty shops featuring arts and crafts, jewelry, and Western items; popular restaurants; bed and breakfasts and more. Bisbee's history can be seen at several museums, viewing the famous Lavender Pit mine, or by touring the historic Queen Mine. was deservedly voted best historic small town in the US last year by USA Today readers – strange to think that once upon a time trade their was worth billions.
Bisgee is a tiny town, only about 6000 people live here. Founded in 1880 this mining town had copper, silver, and gold. For the next 100 years mining was the life blood of the community.
Bisbee was acknowledged as the "Queen of the Copper Camps". With a mining life of almost a century and a peak population of 35'000 , Bisbee attained a permanence rare among mining towns.

Food scene
La Unica features Mexican, Southwestern, and Latin food, and are Vegetarian friendly. The restaurant has a full bar, and is a good place to have delicious margarita, try the Cadillac but make sure you have a designated driver. They have excellent a variety of traditional Mexican dishes and their food is delicious.
Their staff is friendly and efficient and mostly speak Spanish and English. They have a small indoor dining area so get there early, they also have a very large outside patio.

The Chuckwagon Grill is an American dinner serving up traditional American foods like fried chicken and fish, country fried steak, delicious burgers, french fries, onion rings. They really know how to deep fry food. The food is great and the service is friendly.
