Great for Vegans and vegetarians! This is my favorite lunch spot in Hood River. The food is amazing, especially the pizzas. Seriously, try the Siragusa Pear pizza, it is life-changing. Solstice is located down by the marina beach and is also dog-friendly!

Serving lunch and dinner - go for the STEAK and burgers. They are famous for their MEAT. Do not stray. I was very dissapointed in the salad I ordered and everyone scoffed - you don't go to Huntington's for salad, you go for steak and homemade cheesecake. If you don't eat meat, just have a beer ;)
Note: This place is not cheap, you will pay the same as you do for a steak in the city.

Now with new owners and rebranded, The Sand Bar & Grill serves up lunch and dinner, and has a full bar featuring local favorites, but is also family friendly before 7pm. They serve great burgers, pizzas, salads and always have a daily special. Stop in for a game of pool or to watch the big game on one of their large screen TVs. This is my go-to local "Cheers" bar, where you always have a good time with friendly locals.

Exceptional beer! It's a bit of a trek, about 30 minutes west, but oh boy is it worth it. I love the Homo Erectus, but if you like stouts, The Big Black Homo is scrumptious! My favorite is the Black Cherry Stout, made with luscious local bing cherries!. I like to stop and fill my growler before heading back to SF. You'll want a t-shirt, they are cool and too funny!
NOTE: Get a designated driver or plan for a hike following your tasting - their beers have a high alcohol content.

This Mt Hood destination is famous for being the hotel (exterior) featured in The Shining. There is a casual restaurant ($$), historic bar or a fine dining ($$$$) restaurant to suit your mood and budget. There is year round skiing and snowboarding, and the Mile-High gondola ride that offers great views. The beautiful drive through orchards and forests is almost as rewarding as the destination so don't forget to enjoy the journey ;)

I love this hike because it can be 100+ degrees at the base of the trail and by the time you get to the amazingly beautiful falls you will bathed in a cool mist. It's an intermediate trail, suitable for most ages, keep a close eye on the little ones around the steep parts.

Tamanawas Falls Trail
Tamanawas Falls Trail #650AI love this hike because it can be 100+ degrees at the base of the trail and by the time you get to the amazingly beautiful falls you will bathed in a cool mist. It's an intermediate trail, suitable for most ages, keep a close eye on the little ones around the steep parts.
It's breathtaking, go for just the view from below, take the easy walk to the bridge or if you are adventurous and active, you can take the more strenuous hike to to the top!!! If you have the time, there is a scenic hwy from Troutdale (Portland) to Cascade Locks that will take you by Multnomah and may waterfalls along the way. In the summer, be sure to wear shorts or swimsuits so you can jump in and cool off along the way!

It's breathtaking, go for just the view from below, take the easy walk to the bridge or if you are adventurous and active, you can take the more strenuous hike to to the top!!! If you have the time, there is a scenic hwy from Troutdale (Portland) to Cascade Locks that will take you by Multnomah and may waterfalls along the way. In the summer, be sure to wear shorts or swimsuits so you can jump in and cool off along the way!

This family-pet-friendly park is probably the best for swimming and picnicking in the area. It's spacious and scenic with lots of picnic tables and clean facilities.
