While they're known for their pizza, they have a large menu and food / beer can be bought for take-out. They also have corn hole in the back.

This is a sweet spot with excellent ice cream, house-made baked goods (they use our farm's berries seasonally) and good coffee.
It's also a place you can buy greeting cards and little gifts.

I like the salmon cakes with hollandaise sauce. They have specials on weeknights, too.

Sometimes I cannot believe we get to live next to this place.
The rock formations are stunning, the river wild and beautiful and there are free guided tours throughout the summer.

Climb this free observation tower and take in the whole region. The park also has a Japanese Garden and a veranda that overhangs the entire city.
This is a must stop.

I went sunrise paddle boarding under the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge with them and it was the highlight of my summer. The rates were really reasonable, too.

There's an 8-mile sandy beach beyond the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. There's public parking at the "S Turn" where the welcome sign is and at the end of the far end of the point.
There's a hiking trail at the end, too.

Self-guided tour of this gorgeous 1908 mansion on Lake Superior. The grounds are my favorite part. There are often free events on Wednesday evenings - like Concerts on the Pier.

This was a US Steel flagship and is in excellent condition. The tour is station-to-station so go at your own pace. Great photo ops behind the big steering wheel and of the lift bridge off the fantail. You also get a fun paper hat at the end of the tour!

If you stop at the parking area where the William Munger State Trail crosses E Hwy 210 before the state park, it's a short trail walk to our favorite swimming spot.

This is one of my favorite swimming places on earth. You can park in Chester Park's lot, cross Skyline Parkway, and head down the trail on either side - we tend to select the right-hand side (west).
You'll get there in about 15 minutes, passing a few waterfalls along the way.

North Country National Scenic TrailThis is one of my favorite swimming places on earth. You can park in Chester Park's lot, cross Skyline Parkway, and head down the trail on either side - we tend to select the right-hand side (west).
You'll get there in about 15 minutes, passing a few waterfalls along the way.
It's ridiculous that this is right in town.
Another crazy beautiful trail system with a sweet place to swim (good for little kids) just as you enter the park.
Teens cliff jump up the trail -- not for the faint of heart.

Bike trail
Pick up the trail just down the road from our farm. You can take it to charming Carlton or all the way to Duluth. The other direction brings you south to Hinckley.
