Places to visit in Crotone!

Here's a list of some places near Crotone that I really suggest you to visit!
At the archeological site of Capocolonna you can find 2,600 yearls old ruins of a Greek colony and - most notably - a Ionic column of an ancient Greek tample. You'll also find a beautiful church, a nice typical bar and an access to the seaside (so make sure you bring your swimsuite!)

This modern museum is located in a quite and relaxing park. Even if this museum is not artistically relevant (it is quite small and you won't find any special artwork), it is a modern building beautifully designed with an accessible rooftop, a bar and children's playground. Mainly suggest to families of youngsters who want to relax in a park.

Finest beaches

This is a list of Crotone's most unique beaches, where I strongly recommend to go! And please, check the direction of the wind before going!
Nice and wild beach near the archeological site of Capocolonna, not too touristy but it can get quite busy in August. Parking costs 5 euros and there is also a bar.

As it is for Curmo beach, Le Cannella is also known as one of the "Spiagge rosse" - literally meaning "Red beaches" - due to the particular color of its sand. All this to say that... it is gorgeous!

Do not miss Bar Moka's brioche and pastries!

At 2-minutes walk from the apartment, you can find the famous Bar Moka, a traditional Sicilian pastry shop. I highly recommend to try their brioche and coffee-granitas for breakfast! Gelato's also good there, in particular the classical flavors (almonds and pistachio). When I'm particularly full after lunch, I rather take an espresso and a "mini-cono", which is literally a mini version of a cone ice-cream. Little pastries are gorgeous too.

Going to a beach? Check the wind direction and its strength!

Before choosing a beach, I would highly suggest to check (one day or some hours before) both the whether and the wind! In fact, Crotone is famous for its strong winds and, based on these, some beaches will be better accommodating than others. For instance, if there's a north wind it is better to go to Scifo tower's, to Spiaggia dell'Irto or to Alfieri's. There is no general rule behind this principle, but there are many free apps out there that may help you: one example is given by "windfinder".
