The best steak place in Brisbane by far! The first thing you’re encouraged to do at Walter’s Steakhouse is wait. If you have time, a bow-tied bartender will see you to a deep-set couch in a sitting room lifted from a European country villa. There you might enjoy a Martini or a signature Mineral House cocktail before you’re led into a main dining room of white marble tables and Tasmanian oak to drool over some authentic foods.

Welcome to Southside, where warm hospitality meets warmer flavours over three levels in our restaurant, a ruined industrial temple of the senses. Serving East-asian cuisine with a love of Chinese tradition, and pouring wines that share our appreciation of classic expressions from the great regions of the world alongside our favourite Australian producers.

West End is a laid-back residential area popular for weekend markets like Davies Park, packed with vendors selling crafts and produce, and Boundary Street, known for its food stalls. Organic cafes and family-friendly Greek and Vietnamese restaurants have a casual vibe, while green spaces with playgrounds like Musgrave Park add to the community feel. Místní doprava

Trains/Boats are the fastest and cheapest way to get around.

Buy yourself a GoCard with a $20.00 deposit to tap on and off of the boats, trains and buses. South Brisbane is the closest train station (only 5 minutes walk from West End). Hop on a ferry up the or down the river to go as far as Hamilton.

Electric Scooters

Grab an Electric Scooter through the BEAM or NEURON app and venture around the area, through the city and many of the surrounding areas. A trip on the scooter from our apartment to the city centre costs as little as $5.00-$10.00. Its a great idea if you're looking for quick/budget travel or want something fun to do for the day; the scooters are perfect for exploring the river front along the footpath.

Bring bathers!

Brisbane is littered with lots of places to take a dip and relax (especially in summer). It is also a short 1 hour drive or train ride to the Sunshine and Gold Coast where the beaches stretch for kilometres and the surf is unreal! Brisbane also features a man made beach in South Bank where you can spend hours tanning under the sun or taking a swim in the water for FREE!

Bring flexible clothing

Brisbane weather has a tendency to shift very fast; one moment it will be cold and raining and the next it will be sunshine and rainbows so be sure you pack for the weather.

Smile and Wave

Australian culture is very down to earth and 'chill'. A smile and a "hello" to a random person is not uncommon. There’s something Aussies are known the world over for, and that’s their easy-going, friendly attitude. Of course food, events, art and history are all vital parts of the Australian culture, but what really distinguishes an Aussie is his or her laid-back outlook on life. It’s the way friends turn up unannounced for a catch-up (but always with a six-pack of beer in hand). It’s the reason you’ll hear the words “no worries, mate” exchanged between strangers on the street. Most of all,

Restaurants

Brisbane has a super busy night life, particularly with restaurants. If you plan on eating out then make sure to book your preferred restaurants well in advance or it will likely be booked out; particularly towards the weekend!
