This beautiful place is one of our favorite places to walk our dogs and is just a short walk (.3 miles) up the street from the house. This nature preserve features several easy and secluded hiking trails. We have provided a trail map for anyone interested in visiting this local gem.

Shepard's Farm Preserve

Ordway Grove is a walk through some of the oldest white pine and oak trees in the area. The trailhead is on the west side of Pleasant Street, two blocks north of Main Street. Ordway Grove is 1.3 miles from the house.

Roberts Farm Preserve offers great hiking over easy terrain with a lookout over Penneseewassee Lake and the mountains beyond. In winter, groomed cross-country ski trails are available with a warming hut and free use of equipment on site. Snowshoe trails are also available. Roberts Farm Preserve is 1.3 miles from the house. We like to park at the rest stop on route 117 and hike up the hill trail to access the preserve. A large parking lot off Roberts Road is also available.

Located 10.2 miles from the house, the 1,060 foot tall Mount Tire'm is one of our favorite quick mountain hikes. A nice overlook provides excellent views of the Long Lake region and the Presidential Range mountains.
