The Levinsky Market, famous for its spices, was initially the main market in Tel Aviv and marked what was then considered Tel Aviv’s center. The market operates daily although it’s most active on Fridays. Residents come to replenish their favorite spices, freshly ground coffee and pitsuhim – nuts and seeds – which are roasted right here on the spot.

Tired of the ubiquitous hummus? An alternative to the familiar Middle Eastern food is to be found in this lovely restaurant offering authentic Yemenite food with a modern twist. An open kitchen and large centered tables invite you to dine with others in a relaxed ambience. The staff is proud of the traditional specialties they serve, such as kubaneh, a fluffy and special pull-apart yeast bread, baked slowly overnight in a tightly covered container and traditionally served for breakfast on Shabbat by Yemenite Jews.

From the outside, Café Kasbah could easily be missed with its nondescript appearance similar to a private home, but upon taking a closer look, you’ll discover a small covered inner courtyard with cozy furniture, tables and sofas to sit down and relax as if you were invited by friends. The menu is highly varied, with a vegetarian selection as well. The vintage interior gives the place a bohemian flair and the arty clientele enhances the feel-good atmosphere the Kasbah inspires.

Hummus remains the king of Middle Eastern food. Smooth and creamy, with chickpeas, aubergines or just plain with pita, it’s always a truly satisfying experience. Plus its a minute walk from the apartment.

Sometimes referred to as the hidden jewel of South Tel Aviv, the charming and modern Choco Lulu restaurant in the Florentine district is notorious for serving quality cuisine at very reasonable prices (main courses starting at 39 NIS). Lulu’s menu runs the gamut, with dishes ranging from hamburgers, steak and schnitzel to fish, seafood, Italian pasta and even Chinese cashew chicken, all of which are prepared with extra care by the chef.

Tel Aviv’s culinary scene is constantly refreshing itself. The city’s fourth covered market space – replete with an international assortment of dishes open 7 days a week till the early ours of the morning. Menus inside this market space include Paleo’s meat-and-vegetable dishes, Masterfish’s oversized kosher fish sandwiches, Men Ten Ten’s ramen options, Beer Box’s 150 brews (130 international beers and 20 Israeli varieties), Chipsea King’s fried seafood cones, Bunny Chow’s South African curry sandwiches, and Olivery’s crispy pizza slices, among others.

This place is really great. It's relatively cheap, it's hip, and it serves great authentic Israeli food. The regular hummus is really good, but the Lima bean hummus is even better. The side-dishes are all fantastic too, and everything is fresh and self-made. This place is open every day, all day except Friday evening.

One of the grungiest bars in Tel Aviv – if you are looking for a comfortable neighborhood bar, full of hipsters and hippies, you have come to the right place! Hoodna is one big bar that has been separated into two separate bars, with an alleyway in between them. No one here will care what you look like, what you are wearing or who you are. They say that this bar represents the general vibe of the Florentin neighborhood. The beer is cheap, and the food is simple. If you want to experience the real Florentin from up close, you must visit this bar.

The Breakfast Club is known to be a gay hotspot, although there are many nights that are mixed, or regular. The Milk bar is connected to the Breakfast Club through a passage which makes the place bigger, but it is not always open. The cover can sometimes go up to 50 NIS.

Drawing crowds ever since it opened its doors in the heart of the city, a basement just off of Rothschild Street, the Radio has become a magnet for the ‘in’ crowd, both for its very special atmosphere and unique decor, but most of all for its music. And what is perhaps the striking thing about Radio EPGB is that it just doesn’t fit into any one category – as the atmosphere, the crowd and the music change from day to day and even hourly. The Radio always presents the latest in music trends, live bands and DJs, and has become a haven for country, electro, new age, funk, punk, underground and indie electronic fans.

Neve Tzedek is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas in Tel Aviv in my opinion. It was the first Jewish neighborhood built outside the port city of Jaffa. Once a rundown slum area, it's now one of the trendiest neighborhoods in Tel Aviv.
