I'm a big fan of Portuguese Food and in my opinion, the best peri peri chicken is made by Toni's. It's a very unpretentious and quiet affordable place, but has been around for decades, which is Cape Town is a rarity! The service may not be super quick but the food is hearty and, I believe, worth the wait. You'll find everything from that chicken to Mozambican curries and traditional stews on the menu here.

Biscuit Mill is an old Cape Town favourite! A converted victorian factory complex it has a very busy and energetic Saturday morning market. Elsewhere in the complex are some of South Africa's top restaurants like the Test Kitchen (book long in advance) and the Pot Luck Club by internationally renowned chef Luke Dale Roberts. Also find some wonderful local craft and design stores in the complex.
You'll likely have to park (on weekends) outside on the street where you'll find lots of great little craft stores too.

It's super popular, especially with locals in the holidays and on weekends, but makes for a great all-in-one destination in the winelands.

Babylonstoren is one of the best wineries to visit in the Winelands in my opinion because there is so much more than just wine here. Table Mountain may get all the press but I honestly believe the scenery and photo opportunities from Lion's head are (arguably) better! A much shorter walk up, Lion's head will take you between 45 minutes and an hour and a half. If you're not moderately fit though, it may be a bit of a challenge. It's an extremely popular hike especially around sunset, though the views then are worth it! If you're keen to avoid much of the crowds, get up early, make the short trek to the top, snap some pics and you'll still have the whole day ahead of you to enjoy.

This is our local dog park, just a short walk down the hill from the cottage in parallel Molteno Road. You'll find all kinds of furry friends playing here especially in the evenings. This is our local dog park, just a short walk down the hill from the cottage in parallel Molteno Road. You'll find all kinds of furry friends playing here especially in the evenings. But be warned, this is Cape Town's only 'clothing optional' beach so if you're easily offended by nudity, it may not be for you!

This forest on the slopes of Table Mountain is popular with local for running, cycling and walking dogs. It's right near all the hustle and bustle but feels like you could be in the middle of nowhere when you're inside. Nice to pop in if you're in the area.
